He told the government that he was building a death laser and showed it to them in a presentation and then shortly died there after.
He claimed on his 78th birthday that it could "annihilate an army of 1,000,000 at once".

Also, he was working extensively on designing wireless technology. He invented the radio for wireless information transfer. http://www.teslasociety.com/radio.htm
Tesla didn't stop, however. He also invented wireless power. Despite already winning the "battle of currents" with Edison and showing that AC was better than DC, he went on to design a way to wirelessly transfer electricity through the air.
He was also working on building a tower for wireless power. This tower was an experiment to test whether the earth itself could be used as an electrical conductor. Tesla hoped to be able to expand his wireless power transfer to work over great distances and possibly even the whole earth. It had "a fifty-five ton dome of conductive metals, and beneath it stretched an iron root system that penetrated more than 300 feet into the Earth's crust".
J.P. Morgan (the oil guy) read about Tesla's work in a magazine and invested $150,000 to start the construction of his "World Wireless System".
His system would not only allow for a network of information transfer like we have today, but it would also create a network of power transfer by "a global network of high-voltage towers".
However, Tesla lost his funding and his tower got demolished in 1917.

By "the oil guy" I was referring to the time period. He wasn't THE oil guy. That was Rockefeller.
I just remember the time period mainly by Rockefeller. |

Andrew Carnegie was the railroad guy. JP Morgan was a banker and Rockefeller was mainly oil.
Again, I wasn't saying JP Morgan was the oil guy. I made a correction post after that because I knew that would be misunderstood.

Also, even though Tesla's project was never repeated, scientists at MIT were experimenting with his ideas and wireless power transfer and managed to produce a device that would transfer power up to several meters, along with a "repeater" that could extend this range.
They formed a company called WiTricity and have demos of their technology. But they haven't went very far with it.
Tesla's idea I'm pretty sure is just this but to a much greater scale. |

He was steel as well, but you need steel for railroads, so... Also, don't ask me about history. I have a D in history!

The laser or the tower? He didn't destroy the tower. He lost funding and it was demolished.
No one knows what happened to his claimed laser.

His laser.
I thought he had destroyed it not long after its creation due to its supposed 'power'.
Also remembering Tesla was obviously a good man in many ways.

Yes, thank you ztothez123, that is correct based on my memories. I remember that Vanderbilt guy was railroads because his name sounds like it has "belt" in it which is like railroads. |

"I thought he had destroyed it not long after its creation due to its supposed 'power'."
No, he planned to give the laser to all countries to "end all war". He essentially wanted every country so ridiculously powerful that no one would fight anymore because it wouldn't make any sense.
However, when he died, the government confiscated all of his papers and Project Nick was formed.
His papers on the death beam mysteriously vanished and never were released.
Opposers to the conspiracy claim that Nikola was simply crazy. Nikola also thought he received signals from aliens and fell in love with a bird.
His exact words on the matter were: "I loved that pigeon as a man loves a woman, and she loved me. As long as I had her, there was a purpose to my life." |
