I often get accused of being a cactus when it comes to PC talk on here, and I don't think that's true, as I do plan on purchasing a workstation in the future, so I don't hate PC itself.
But I don't like it as a platform for games, because of the architectural differences between different components such as CPUs. Like if I were to make a game, I couldn't code specifically to say...the newest AMD CPU and take advantage of such, or code specifically to a top end Intel CPU and take advantage of hyperthreading.
Not being able to code to a specific architecture, in my opinion, isn't ideal, because you can't get nearly as much performance out of the hardware. Coding to PC, compared to console, is far more abstracted.
TL DR; I don't care for PC as a platform for games because the coding is more abstracted. That doesn't mean I don't like it all together, because PC workstations are very useful. |

| Good someone who realised that PCs aren't made for gaming, and are workstations. |

Well they can game pretty good, but you can't take advantage of coding to a specific architecture. That's my primary qualm with PC as a gaming platform. |

Oh. Well actually now that I think back, there was a time when PCs were very bad at gaming. I remember reading this one story of John Carmack, one of the developers of Doom and Wolfenstein, laboring over trying to create a Mario copy cat on a PC.
He was essentially trying to create a PC version of an NES game, and despite the former being more powerful on paper, due to architectural differences he really had to work to make such a game appear on the platform. |

@Hyper You get a nice 500$ build The next 5 years, you realise you have a terrible build and have to rebuild again due to raised requirements In a console you don't have to worry about such things |

| Then you spend an extra 200$ then it doesn't become cheaper than a console. |

Don't Blame PC Blame your skills FPS is like multitasking like writing something while shooting someone while flying!
PC is the master of gaming without it battlefield 3 would suck in PS3 |

wat
are you aware most PCs run CPUs with the exact same instruction sets, it's irrelevant what the CPUs internal architecture is when it understands the abstracted code anyways, and games generally dont take advantage of multicore CPUs because CPUs aren't generally the bottleneck |

Mantle is a thing you know, Shovic
Yes, it's not used for every game... or in fact many.
The current gen now allows for multi-core optimization... So I don't know where you are coming from.
BTW, im a grill :^) |

Yes, I know what Mantle is. Believe it or not Rampage, I actually follow the industry.
But most PC games use Direct X or Open GL (which is a bit less abstracted, but still), so... |

@Rampage By many games you mean Frostbite 3 engine games? And a lot of people don't have AMD. I would personally ditch AMD for Nvidia for CUDA. Mantle is AMD only ATM. |
