1. Ditch that SSD. If you're planning to get an SSD for your games, don't. It's not worth it. Go ahead and get a smaller SSD dedicated to holding your OS, but you should use a hard drive to hold all of your other files.
2. RAM. Don't get 16 GB. 8 Is all you need. Getting more RAM doesn't make your game faster, it doesn't work like CPUs or GPUs.
3. Extra CPU fans. Don't get these, get thermal paste instead. Using thermal paste is a much cheaper and more quiet solution.
4. On the CPU, go AMD if you're low on money. An FX 6300 costs ~120 dollars, and will run games fine, given that you have other good hardware to support it. Just be sure to get a motherboard that supports AMD CPUs.
5. Don't get that fancy case. Some cases are very affordable, and don't have to look good to make your games run well. Gaming isn't a fashion contest.

Getting more RAM does help FPS, when using a APU. It helps with a GPU, but it's like .2 fps boost. Faster RAM is less necessary, unless you have a APU.
Fancy cases are actually helpful. They usually have more drive bays and expansion slots. The cable management is usually my preferable and metal gives better heat dissipation. That said, any case above $100 isn't worth it.
BTW, im a grill :^) |

The way I judge CPUs is by Cores and frequency(Hertz) not by this "Haswell" or or "Ivybridge" thing, I still don't even get what they are.
Anyway
AMD FX 8350 8 cores 5.1 GHz 1000 EGP/150 USD
Intel i7(Can't remember the model no.....) 3.1 GHz 4 cores 2700 EGP/ 200 USD
Correct me if I am wrong. |

@fd intel has more power than amd cpus if you took a quad core 3.0 from both brands intel would win but amd is great for budget building |

@fd
Not all cores are created equal... AMD's FX 8350 isn't 8 true cores, as a lot of the resources are shared between 2 'cores' on each module. Also intel's cores have much higher performance per clock (per 1 Hz) than AMD's, so as it turns out intel's i7's still perform a lot better than the FX 8350, despite having 'less cores' and being clocked lower. |

I can get a 120gb ssd for 40/50. It really depends on my timing.
So yeah... much faster boot time is worth it. |

what do you mean ssds arent worth it? ssds improve boot and loading times and makes the system as a whole more fast and responsive. only using one drive for anything, especially an hdd, can greatly reduce its lifetime prematurely.

ssds improve performance, but not enough to warrant their incredibly high price tag at this point once they become more common and go down in price they'll be worth it
i personally got a fancy case mostly to show off, but huge cases also have more room for expansion and generally better airflow |

@fx Intel CPU's have 32% more performance/core. Also, intel's hyperthreaded cores technically count as double cores.

OK so the intel I7 is like 8 or 9 cores or sth? and 6 ghz? But I would still stick with the amd fx 8350 because well.... It's cheaper and I don't really have that much money... |
