| I don't since it was done when Crimea was being occupied, I have no problem with people voting to leave a country if they wish but that should be done by the countries government not when being occupied. |

| Its not like he's going to take the whole world, Crimea was indeed very much Russian. So on its own the vote was okay (besides, a lot of people railing against it were fine with the pro European revolution). But the occupation is bad, did you hear about the servicemen who got shot by the Russians (or the new Crimean Defence Force)? :( |

| The way Putin acts is like the Russians were getting beaten to death in the protests which is amusing considering what Russia did to Crimean Tatars when they first annexed Crimea. |

I do not.
It was not seen by the UN and also, Russia is a democracy, yes. But Putin is always gonna be president because he fills the people with propagranda so when his terms are up, his friend can go in.
Though it's heavily filled with Russians, Russia gave it to Ukraine and now like a child they want their toy back. I personally don't like it, I wouldn't mind if this "vote" was done by the UN to prove its safety.
Even apart from that, it shows how Russia wants to still control Ukraine by having a hissy fit when Ukraine's crappy president who was clearly a Russian puppet has fell from power and now Russia's annoyed that they can't secretly control Ukraine, Russia is corrupt in my opinion. |

This basically sums up my view, Putin lost one of his puppets and is bringing up old arguments. I wouldn't be shocked if Putin organised the revolt in the first place think about it, Putin loses a puppet he can replace and creates a revolution, then he has an excuse (a poor one) to invade Crimea.

Just because the US and its puppets don't recognize it, doesn't mean the people of Crimea have a right to vote on where they stand.
Deep down, you're all only basing this on your dislike of Putin.
And what does it matter if the individual "recognises" something like this. Would a world power actually care if a few people from foreign countries are whining over something they did? I assure you they don't.
Putin, Crimea, and the rest of Russia are all laughing at how weak everyone else is right now. Instead of fighting back, they impose petty sanctions that do very little.
I support the annexation, but whether or not I "recognise" it means nothing. In the end, we're all just sheep. |

"it shows how Russia wants to still control Ukraine"
If they wanted to "control" the Ukraine, they would have done more than just put troops in Crimea. Also, they would have tried to put someone more favorable to Russia at the head of Ukraine's government.
Crimea isn't even part of historical Ukraine. Crimea was just put under the Ukrainian S.S.R. for political reasons back when the Soviet Union still had control of it. Crimea, historically is either Russian or Independent. |

@Boro
Why would Russia organize the revolt if Yanukovych was Pro-Russian in the first place? If they had organized it, you'd see much more than Crimea joining Russia. |

"Crimea is not historically Russian"
Crimea originated as a remnant of the Mongol Empire. At the time, the population was mostly Tatar.
After the Crimean war and the Russo-Turkish war in the 1700s, the Crimean Khanate had found itself under Russian rule. It did not come under the jurisdiction of Ukraine until it was organized that way in the Soviet Union to help with government issues. |

So historically, Crimea is either an independent nation, or Russian, and since most of the population today is Russian, it's going to be Russian. It is in no way Ukrainian.
In fact, historic Crimean lands engulf all of Ukraine's coast, not just the Crimean Peninsula. |
