So I assume you have all heard of Le Bote. Its a pay-to-win boat game where you choose the class, choose your immensely overpowerd Iowa, Choose equally overpowerd cannons, and blow other overpowerd Yamatos and Bismarcks.
So I decided that the roblox community needed a new naval game that isn't a galleons copy. So, born out of an idea, came Naval Commader.
Naval Commander is set in the Pacific and European waters and the time frame is set in World War two (I.E. No missiles shooting the hell out of you with usless CIWS). The idea is that 10v10 (Assuming full server) will battle each other out, with ships of their choice. Teams will be Allies and Axis and they will have realistic ship amounts, so only two Battleships per team and 4 heavy Cruisers, 4 Light cruisers etc etc. The player with the highest rank has the highest chance of getting the battleship. Lower ranks have a much lower chance and more likely to get destroyers and frigates. (This does not mean a lower rank one can not get a Battleship and higher rank not get a frigate, but chances are lower)
Games will last 10-30 Mimiutes depending on settings set by others. The amount of time you have t build will be aproximitly 5-10 minutes, if not done by then you will continue custimizing throughout the game until you want to get into the fray (Respawn time is 1 Miniute, so then people aren't just kamakazing into the fray.)Also to quickly get into the fray, custimize some of the pre made ships.
The way the custimization works is you flying around (As a camera, not a character) building a ship. You are set with an empty hull (nothing on it) that has no weight limit, but bear in mind, ship has to float on the roblox water, so that means to much weight and it will probably sink. And rember, the game decides what class of ship you get. You choose cannons from a GUI on the right of your screen. This GUI contains buttons onto. Buttons (From left to right) include
WEAPONS /AA Guns Main Guns Torpedos 2nd Guns Special ENGINES / Heavy Light COMPONENTS / Radar/Sonar FCS Funnel Ammo Strg Fuel Strg BRIDGES / Large Medium Small Special
That's the main GUI and the GUI on the right will contain Painting and naming and Logo placing and Decals (Only 4 per ship) for in depth custimization
The way battles work is simple. Your camera floats above the ship, Aiming the guns is easy as looking there. But the cannons are not Le Bote, so they may take awhile to turn depending on the cannons used. Shooting is easy and GUI's are there to help you aim and shoot. Damage is just per block. The less TOP weight will make the ship either an easier target (Rasing the ship) or if the shot lands on an edge, will tilt the boat and make it harder. The less BOTTOM weight will make the ship less floaty and will increase the pressure, thus increasing sinking chances (If the top of your main cannons touch the water, its counted as a sink). Hitting ammo storage makes it blow up. Otherwise its pretty simple.
Also armour is set by you (Slows you down) and the damage is realistic, so if you get a frigate, itll be blown out of the water (One shot) by a battleship. Don't fret, a BB has a little more spread than other weapons, so its hard to hit from ages away, but don't worry BB users, youll be able to hit the bigger ships. (NOTE: Frigates and destoyers have acces to anti sub weapons and main guns can be also used as AA)
QUESTIONS THAT I FEEL SOME MAY HAVE

The bridge is for the amount of crew you have. The bigger the bridge, the more crew you get. The more crew, the more abilities you get. E.G. a ship with 10 crew get a 1.05x bonus in Weapon Accuracy, Radar accuracy, Weapon Range, Weapon damage, (Idc if that isn't realistic.) Turn speed (NOTE: This does NOT include speed) etc etc etc. While a ship with 9999999pl0x999999crew gets 50x bonuses in all these areas.

A small bridge allows for more speed and, if you are an OP guy, more guns and space. Also reduces weight for more components.

They will be V.I.P. only stuff. They won't be terribliy OP and expensive and most ships will be able to fight against them. So the 12in cannon can fight against a V.I.P. 12in, but the V.I.P. will have a bit more damage and a faster realod. But all this does not ruin experience. They just have an 'edge' in combat.

I will not have a realease date until I am happy with it and will probebley be Open Beta when close to finishing. You could be apart of Alpha/Beta by buying the access, but I don't care if you don't, it just tells me that people are interested in this idea.

Yes. Weapons and hulls and guns. And there WILL be pre-made ships for your choosing, although I highly recommend making your own.

Great bashing of le bote. Personally I would disagree with overpowered, as the buy-a-ships are usually well balanced, with the stock designs being better than the buy-a-designs. However, I disagree with Nahr's strategy of marketing. He takes in buckets and buckets and buckets of money, but he's a bit of an ass. I'm happy that he can cash out for college by following his hobby, but me and him, we just don't work well together. I made a model Bizmark (Gorgeous, better than inyo22's crap, see my models for proof), and he flat-out rejected my ship. Granted, a little high part count, but nothing that partmeshes wouldn't fix. |

I mean as little offense as I can here, but you must keep in mind the capabilities of yourself and the roblox engine. For the roblox engine, everything is made in guerrilla style, completely off of its own accord and from scratch with nothing else to follow up with. Its systems it uses for aiming and firing projectiles is already incredibly complex. For you, I think you are underestimating the depth of this project you want to aim for. It would be far easier to do this on a game engine such as unity but thats not the problem. This game will be incredibly difficult to produce. Period. I can not elaborate on that further.
I do believe you can do a great job at this, I support you, and I wish you luck if you do choose to follow this project... but I have small doubts on the chances this is possible. |
