Roblox is no stranger to low frame rates, and it's become more and more of a problem as builds have gotten larger. When Roblox was designed, I doubt the staff had imagined what it would evolve into. Builds started out as perfectly grid aligned, all upwards facing rectangles. Now, the majority of builders cframe bricks together, creating many unnecessary brick faces.
I propose that an addition be made, that allows any bricks that are Cframed into one another, have a method of deleting the faces and lines of a brick that are not visible by the player. This would allow the game engine to only have to render half as many brick faces as normal.
Obviously, there are pros and cons, so I suggest making it a feature, not a protocol. Maybe, for a use example, you highlight a set of bricks that have been cframed into the shape you want, and press a "superbrick" button, that deletes the faces of the bricks that are in the cframe, and merges all highlighted bricks into 1 part.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I know from experience that suggestions make there way into the game very often (I did a write up on possible place teleportation many years ago, and the thread got popular, and now we have it)so please respond with support, and or any ideas you may have on the subject. |

| This is a good idea, hope it gets implemented! Could definitely fix lag issues that a lot of people have in big group places. |

| Would it basically be merging two parts into one? How many bricks can it be? |

@chimo
that's up to roblox
but my idea is to just delete the faces and lines of a part not visible by the player |

"Like making it a mesh?"
I didn't want to say that, because roblox is against user meshes, but yeah.
Except it wont be a mesh, a superbrick would still have the physical properties of a brick (you can stand on it) |

| Yes, I totally agree. I only build when I want to, I am more into 2D Mobile platforms and movie stuff I guess. Still my bro Rebornultra builds a lot and it does lag a lot with so much bricks. |

I sort of get what your talking about, the only thing i don't get is how the system would recognize the shapes and lines that aren't visible to the player. The brick would have to know what bricks are attached to it and the system would ave to know how far it erases the brick.
Im probably being really daft (it is Tuesday night) but if you could explain it to me then i will be more than happy to support :) |
