WARNING TO READER: ````````````````````` If you want to make your very first Gun, then all you need is to read from top to bottom with complete patience and understanding. Complaining and being Lazy will not let you able to finish it fast.
Introduction: ````````````` Have you ever thought of how people make their own Gun? Ever wondered how to MAKE one? Well in this tutorial, you will be able to make your own model of your Gun and make it shoot.
Things needed: ``````````````` Roblox Studio --> Edit mode with an Empty Baseplate. Some bricks Meshes (optional)
Tutorial: ````````
Step 1: Open Roblox Studios ---> Edit mode. Make sure you have an empty workspace/baseplate
Step 2: Make your own gun. At this point, you must first start making your MODEL of your gun. Make sure its large and big not as a size as your avatar but as big as a Robloxian House. You get what I'm typing?
Step 3: Now that your done making your Model of your gun, name one part as "Handle" and one part as "Barrel". The "Handle" is the part when a player touches it, the player is able to use the Gun. The "Barrel" is the part where the bullets comes out and stuffs like that.
Step 4: After naming the two parts, look at the top left of your screen and go to Insert -> Object -> Tool. The Tool goes directly to Workspace. It is one of the most important thing that cannot be missed because the Tool is the one responsible for making your Gun/Weapon usable.
Step 5: Go to Free Models and Insert the script called "Minimap Script". What's a Minimap Script? A Minimap Script is responsible for making those high quality weapons look epic. It also acts as a minimizer. Meaning, it will make everything in your baseplate, the large bricks, into tiny ones except for your avatar (duh).
After inserting the script, you will know that the script works when a message on top of your screen appears. After that, you will see your Big model of your gun turned to a tiny one. Find that minimap model in your baseplate or workspace.
But it appears to be not the size you wanted...
Delete that Minimap Model found on your Workspace. Open the Minimap Script which you inserted into the Workspace. After opening it, at the very first line of the script, you will see something like this;
scale = 2/10
that line, is the only line that you are allowed to make changes. For Example;
if the original was: scale = 2/10
then, change it to scale 2/20
as you can see the /20 makes everything different from /10. You can make everything to even the most tiniest things. But I recommend using the /20.
If 1/20, 2/20 or 3/20 does not satisfy the size you want, you can use decimals.
0.5/20, 0.6/20 or even 0.2/20
It's up to you.
Then, when your done making changes, exit from the script and Copy it. Then Delete the script and then Paste. Then again, a message will appear from the top of your screen.
So, did the size of your gun satisfied you yet? Yes? Good. Moving on.
Step 6: Now that you have completed Step 5, Click onto your Minimap Model. Open it and then you might see these names of the parts:
Workspace->Part
Delete the unnecessary words found on the name of the part of your gun.
For example, when its Workspace -> Part delete Workspace -> so that the only one left is "Part". Do this the same as for "Handle" and "Barrel"
Step 7: After completing Step 6, Exit from your Model of your gun. Remember the Tool thing? Drag the Minimap Model into Tool. And once its inside the Tool, Ungroup it.
Step 8: The most Vital of ALL!!!!!! It's time to place some scripts! Hooray!!!!!
You guys can burrow the scripts from this gun of mine: http://www.roblox.com/GR38-item?id=61877491
Insert the gun in your Workspace, Open it and Copy all of the scripts found in the Gun. And paste it into the Tool where you dragged in your Minimap Model. After inserting, Test it now.
If it worked, the gun of yours might be in a weird position when you equipped it. To fix it, don't equip it.
Go to Players -> Back Pack and then click the Gun. Then Equip it. There will be a property named "Appearance" this acts as the Grip Position for your model. Mess with it so that you can get the right Grip Position,
Step 9: Be happy. You just made your very first gun for the first time. Be proud that you know how to make one already. I am happy that you read all the way down with complete patience. Or probably you skipped some parts though :P
Oh, any questions, clarifications, POST!

| The gun always shoots in a specific direction, not where I am aiming. How do I fix that? |

What do you mean by specific direction?
Is the gun in a wrong position? |

"Yay. Now, I havea question about ROBLOX Guns.. Other than travel time, is their any preference of Raycast over Bullets?"
Yes, with raycast, to the user, it is easier to see where your aim is off and by how much. Also, many people like the visual appeal of a raytcast gun or a normal bullet one.
However, with a raycast gun, it is much harder to get it to go through the person. To do it, you have to create a NEW ray with the ignoreDescendants option set as that player, and the origin must be where it hit. With a bullet gun, just make it fly through with CanCollide set to false. |
