If you don't know what the SSA is, you're either a girl like me, or you're under 18. I've never understood how this act still is enforced today and yet NO BODY has a problem with it! Like, at all. Zero. Nada. Everything thinks it's fine.
What's the Selective Service Act? This act was passed in 1917 and requires that all male sign up for conscription. This means that if the government ever decides they want more troops for the war, they can FORCE you to go onto the battlefield against your will.
This literally means that the government can little form an army of slaves at any time they desire.
Not signing up for conscription is against the law. Punishments include imprisonment and fines.

...heh? Please explain. I fail to understand your assertion. Also, everyone is "able" to if they desire. But this is about force. |

"Please explain"
Your nation is your identity and preserving it is honorable
"this is about force"
The draft is in place in the event of a large scale conflict so it is guaranteed that the nation can defend itself |

"Your nation is your identity"
"My" nation is where I was born. Last time I checked, people don't choose where they're born. So why should they have some fantastic obligation to defend something that they never chose in the first place
"and preserving it is honorable"
Defending something isn't honorable in the slightest. What you are defending and why you are defending it is what is honorable.
"The draft is in place in the event of a large scale conflict so it is guaranteed that the nation can defend itself"
Yeah, I get that, but I was asking how it's moral.

communism - a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
Due to your demonstration of the ignorance of communism, I'll explain it for you. Communism is about class, similar to socialism, the government controls all of the aspects to ensure equality of class.
The fact that you accused me of being a "commie" for saying that the government DOESN'T have the right to do something is a pretty huge blunder and I hope you can correct yourself and not make such a stupid mistake again. |

| Just found on Wiki that it has been discontinued since 1973. I know every teacher (that I've met anyway) will say Wikipedia is a bad source but I feel like it's true? |

Yeah, but that really wasn't that long ago. You're thinking of the Draft lottery of 1969, when they literally had a lottery to see who they were going to send to their deaths. Kinda like The Hunger Games.
But again, this was only 45 years ago, not even a lifetime ago. And the draft of World War II was in 1940, about 30 years prior. The first draft was in 1919, about 20 years prior.
If this continues, don't be surprised if we see another draft in ~15 years. |

Wait, are you saying that the Government = Wikipedia? I hope you know I cited a GOVERNMENT website, right?
SSS.gov is ran by the government, NOT WIKIPEDIA.
I'll cite it again:

"Wait, are you saying that the Government = Wikipedia?"
Er, my brain = mush right now...
And I guess we're just going to have to deal with it. Most people won't care until they get sent off, and by then they wont really have time to protest... |
