You awaken with a sense of extreme urgency.
You remember that, recently before, your pack was ripped from you as you fled from one of 'them'. You've lost everything, everything but your trainer card. Oh, how you wish you could still be training right now.
You study the card, taking a quick note of your appearance before tossing it away. It's no longer important to you.
(This is where you state your appearance, gender, those sort of things. Good luck!) |

What I read and saw on the card was implanted within my mind;
"Joshua Jamieson" "Pokemon Trainer" "5'11" "Male"
The picture of myself on the card made me feel like I was looking into a mirror. Pale skin, dark blonde hair, blue eyes... |

However, your picture looks happy.
Happy times.
You scan the area around you. You remember that you had taken refuge in an old Pokémon center at the first town you saw. It was the most intact building, all the rest are overgrown, and you know that much more than plants lurk in those areas.
You notice, in the corner, by the broken machine, a small egg. |

| I scream yes in my mind and tip-toe over to the egg, careful not to make any sounds. This is amazing! A Pokemon, the best tool for survival. |

| The egg is red, with licks of orange painted on, moving upward. It reminds you of flames. |

| Sadly enough, it seems that centers had all but left typical medicine and ran completely to the machines. You do see a door that would lead to a room where advanced care could be administered, but it is locked tight. |

| I sigh, then think of a plan. I place the egg on a table and get into a running stance. Still knowing that I may attract a hostile Pokemon, I do it anyway. I sprint, heading towards the locked door, hoping to get in. |

Pain shoots through your shoulder as you slam into the door at full speed. You pick yourself up on the ground... that is notably different. You're inside.
It's dark, but the sunlight should illuminate well enough. Your victory is cut short when you hear something outside the room. |

You hide behind the doorway and look out a broken window.
Nothing odd... Everything as it was left. Even the tiny vines slowly peeking through.
Wait. |

You stare.
Your eyes are not deceiving you, those vines are creeping through towards you. Well, fortunately, they aren't anemic looking, so at least that means that they aren't infected.
That's good, right?
Another vine slaps onto the window and crawls its way up. |

| My eyes widen, but my natural instinct comes on before I can do anything else. I sprint out of the room, grab the egg and exit the Pokemon Centre. |

You sprint towards the egg and snatch it. Something flies above your head and leaves a giant gash in the table behind you.
You dive out the broken window, leaving a small hole in your sleeve as it catches on a shard of glass.
You stumble on the landing, and the egg flies from your hand. It lands on the soft grass and slowly rolls away. |

(Banned for a day.)
I grit my teeth to distract myself from the cut I got on the glass. I brush dirt off my already messy clothes, and walk over to pick up the egg. |

(Do you play tuba?)
You walk over to the egg.
Looking around nervously, you see the host of the vines slowly retreating. It was likely a Carvine, as other grass types would not attack you under normal surcumstances. It slinks into a large, nearby building that looks mildly important.
You go to pick up the egg, but before you touch it, it gives a little shake. |

Normally I'd be scared, but I smile and sit down, waiting for it to hatch. |

(You said you had Band for a day.)
You stare at it.
It shakes a little more, and a small bit of it chips away.
You notice a disgusting, reddish ooze flowing out.

(I actually rolled Grimer AND slugma, and I was considering giving you grimer but I realized that grimer is a bit too weird.)
The ooze flows out and burns the grass slightly. A large head pokes out from the egg, with two yellow eyes with tiny pupils that stare at you, blankly. |

"Slugma," I mutter. |
