Alright, this is mainly for TGI, but by all means, other clans are open to use this.
So, the thing about TGI's trainings lately is that they've just been so generic, so boring, so "the same thing we did yesterday."
Well, the thing with all of this is not because we have outdated training places, or not up-to-par technology, but because of lack of creativity from the trainers. That's kind of obvious.
Over the past week, I've been hosting some experimental trainings to see what people might think of them.
Almost everyone who attends my trainings love them.
This is how I do it in a list, and here are some gametypes.
1. *Use btools.* Seriously, use them. You have no idea how great it can be setting up things like more cover, sniper towers, or whatever, to fit gametypes more suitably to your needs, and the trainee's need. Be creative.
2. *Act like you give a rat's ass.* Yeah, really, this is kind of a no brainer. I've attended some trainings where I swear the trainer is acting like he has a gun to his head, and that if he doesn't host this training, he's going to get shot. Show some enthusiasm for Christ's sake, and give compliments where compliments are due. Reward people for improvement, not just skill. This is a training, you know.
3. *Don't be boring*. This is kind of the same as above, but in a different context. Don't pull the same events over, and over, and over, and over again. Think of NEW things. Go check out some FPS shooter games for xbox, and look at the gametypes. Base off of that!
And finally, here are some of the gametypes I like to do during trainings. Remember, you can combine two things to make a new event, so there are endless combinations here.
1. (Sabotage) This one is LOVED by everyone when I do it. Basically it works like this:
*It's a regular TDM with guns and swords, 1 life, but with a twist. That twist is the sabotagers. On each team, there is one sabotager who is secretly working for the other team. His job (after 1 minute has gone by during the TDM) is to teamglitch (or have a TK weapon) to the other team, and take out the team he started on. This is a great game type, and is incredibly fun. The way you tell the person that he's a sabotager is through PM.
2. (Drop Zone TDM)
*Based off of Halo, this is a regular TDM with a thing called a "drop zone". This drop zone (perferably located in the middle of the map, equal to both side being able to get it) is a place to receive a more overpowered weapon than the one that everyone starts out with. The way to obtain that weapon is through holding the drop zone, individually, not as a team, for 10 seconds to receive a OP weapon (lets say a nexus) from the trainer. This is a great game type, and is loved by the people I put it on for.
3. (Protect the Leader)
*Pretty easy but fun gametype. Objective of the game is for your team to kill the opposing team's leader. Once that is achieved, that team wins. Very fun gametype.*
4. (Team Swap TDM)
*On death, you switch to the other team. This is a fun way for people to pull clutches in the event of a 1v20. Very fun and exhilarating.*
5. (Hardcore TDM)
*This one should be done after you have used the btools given from the admin commands to create more elaborate cover. Basically, it's a lowered HP (I do it at 20 HP, where the reapers are a 2 shot kill) TDM with 1 life. Teaches people to use cover, and be more cautious and smart, double thinking everything they do.*
6. (Territories)
*This one, I'll admit, is hard to pull off due to the trainer having to be VERY attentive. But this is how it's played:
Two teams, regular TDM, but in order to win, one team has to hold 2 or 3 control areas spread around the map. Kind of like conquest from BF4, or Arathi Basin for WoW. To hold a spot, there must be 2 people from that team on that spot. Very fun, and EMPHASIZES tactics.*
7. (VIP)
*Halo 3 classic, loved by all. Very simple. TDM, with a VIP on each team. In order to win, you have to kill the opposing team's VIP more than they do your's.
8. (Escort the Leader)
*Very simple. Two team TDM, where you have to escort your leader to the enemy team's base. Checkmate.*
Those are all the events I've done, and they're loved.
Now, don't get entirely rid of the regular TDM, and the sword TDMs and all of that. Keep it all, and incorporate those periodically throughout your training.
Oh, and a tip: Trainings shouldn't be an hour long. They need to be way longer for them to be effective.
Thanks guys! Hope this helps. If not, then great, you're there.

I don't see why trainings need to be 'fun' at parts.
This is why we have TGI Fridays.
It's also a bad idea to run over-complex events, as they can quickly get out of hand. |
