I know OT is going to dismiss this thread as you guys don't like learning at all, but I'm gonna list the other real senses scientists found anyway.
Equilibrioception: Senses balance and gravity. This keeps you up straight so you don't move around like a ragdoll. Thermoception: Senses heat or lack of heat. Proprioception: Senses your body. You are able to tell where your limbs and such are without looking at them or touching them. Nociception: Senses physical damage. You feel pain because of this. Pulmonary Stretch: Senses breathing in your lungs and keeps your breathing at a steady and comfortable rate. Peripheral Chemoreception: Senses carbon dioxide and oxygen levels in the brain. The feeling of suffocation comes from this. Chemoreception Trigger Zone: Interacts with hormones and bloodborne drugs. Tells you to vomit. Circulatory Chemoreception: Measures salt levels and tells you when you're thirsty. It responds differently to diabetic people. Cutaneous Reception: Responds to vasodilation in your skin, like blushing. Gastrointestinal Stretch: Senses gas distension. It helps to prevent butthurt, literally. Urinary Reception: Senses the fullness of your bladder and sometimes your butt. Esophagus Reception: Senses stuff in your throat like swallowing and vomiting. Pharynx Mucosa Reception: Is your gag reflex. Dilation Stretch: Senses vasodilation of brain arteries which cause headaches. Chronoception: Senses the passage of time. Fell asleep and it didn't even feel like a minute? That's because this sense turned off. |

| Well, I knew that there were more than five senses already (thanks, QI), but I didn't know the names of all of them. |

Hahaha. You know some people don't have nociception? I think it's called something like conginital pain insensitivity. They bite off their tongues without realizing it. They also break bones and continue using them. They'd walk on a broken leg. |

They mean basic senses. Fish have "6" basic senses.

| No, they meant traditional senses. The five sense thing was thought of a long time ago when they didn't really know about the other ones. I'd consider all the external ones here pretty basic. The internal ones are sort of complex though. |
