Hello, welcome to my forum about my favorite poems that describe my ideals. This is not meant to gain views, or to entertain, so if you do not like it, too bad. This forum is meant to inform people on my views, and ideals, through poetry. ================================================================================= "CAN'T" by Edgar Guest:
CAN'T is the worst word that's written or spoken; Doing more harm than slander and lies; On it is many a strong spirit broken, And with it many a good purpose dies. It springs from the lips of the thoughtless each morning And robs us of courage we need through the day; It rings in our ears like a timely sent warning And laughs when we falter and fall by the way.
CAN'T is the father of feeble endeavor, The parent of terror and halfhearted work; It weakens the efforts of artisans clever, And makes of the toiler and indolent shirk. It poisons the soul of the man with a vision, It stifles in infancy many a plan; It greets honest toiling with open derision And mocks at the hopes and the dreams of a man.
CAN'T is a word none should speak without blushing; To utter it should be a symbol of shame; Ambition and courage it daily is crushing It blights a man's purpose and shortens his aim. Despise it with all of your hatred of error; Refuse it the lodgment it seeks in your brain; Arm against it as a creature of terror, And all that you dream of you one day shall gain
CAN'T is the word that is foe to ambition An enemy ambushed to shatter your will; Its prey is forever a man with a mission And bows but to courage and patience and skill Hate it with hatred that's deep and undying For once it is welcomed 'twill break any man; Whatever the goal you are seeking keep trying And answer this demon by saying "I can."

"IF" by Rudyard Kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you, Are losing theirs and blaming it on you; If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you But make allowance for their doubts too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look to good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream-and not make dreams your master; If you can think-and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with the triumph and disasters And treat those two imposters just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings-nor lose the common touch, If neither friend nor foe can hurt you, If all men count with you but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run- Yours is the earth and everything that's in it, And-which is more-you'll be a Man, my son!

"PERSEVERANCE" by Johann Wolfgang von Geothe
We must not hope to be mowers, And not to gather the rope gold ears, Unless we have first been sowers And watered the furrows with tears.
It is not just as we take it, This magical world of ours, Life's field will yield what we make it A harvest of thorns or of flowers.

Lol emo XD, funny how these poems talk about working, or doing your best in what you do. Not emotions, they portray messages of hard work, and honor, not emotion. This is not emo.

Never expected people to even read it XD. I just made it to post on my blurb as a way to show that they describe my ideals, and without running out of room on the blurb.

Somebody takes this too seriously XD. Like I said, I made this so people can learn about my ideals if they want, not for entertainment, or for fun, I just put it here to inform. This is not a college essay, so everything doe snot have to be perfect.
