2 GB of ram really isn't sufficient. I have 16 GB and I still OCCASIONALLY crash when I have a dual premiere pro/after effects setup. Depends on how intense the rendering is.

Regardless of what you're doing, you want a minimum of 6 GB of ram, preferably 8+

But that is expensive. I would also need a PC that can support a beter RAM upgrade The max mine could handle is 4GB.

Step 1) Avoid laptops at all costs. (literally, they cost a lot more)

If you are on a budget, build your own! Its a lot easier than it's made out to be, and you can get a better computer for about 50% of the price of any store-bought computer.

But honestly, there isn't anything you can do about low ram. Windows Movie Maker doesn't consume as much processing power as others, but you still need a good bit.

I'm thinking that 2-4GB should let you edit shorter videos without crashing. For the best support, contact microsoft/go to their forums and see if they can help. It might be a bad download or a different part of your computer acting up, we don't know without checking really long crash logs.

The final product or all of the clips combined?

At what point did it crash?
