Yes, completely, because invading a nation to contain the evil empire was an absolute must and if they lost Vietnam they would have also lost Cambodia, listen to this quote made by a president referring to the vietcong war.
If you let a bully come in your front yard, he'll be on your porch the next day and the day after that he'll r@pe your wife in your own bed.
Because today, Cambodia and all the other Asian countries really have turned completely communist.
Oh, god bless america.

Cambodia had a successful communist revolution because of the Vietnam War. |

We claimed we were stopping communism, as well as preserving the integrity of South Vietnam.
I've got mixed feelings, we didn't put an end to communism, and it was a civil war over there. |

No, other side of the world, I think it was an attempt to oppress Russia's influence on other countries (with communism,) and USA thought if they shut down Viet's communists, it would be a warning I think they though it would be easier... |

| On a related note, was the Korean War justified? |

| What do you mean? The North invading the South being justified or the UN and half the planet (not litteraly) intervening? |

| The UN intervention. If you'd like to give your opinion on the invasion by North Korea though, feel free. |

| I think it was a poor idea to split up Korea, it was bound to create rivalry and both North Korea and South Korea were dictatorships back then. |

From my grandfather who was on the Maddox:
"You see the people who were on the Sonar were hearing something in the water.. Which was presumed to be Torpedoes. So we spent the day trying to figure out what had happened. As it turns out one of my friends had to borrow my headphones which I had bought in Hong Kong. My condition was that he tells me what they heard. As it turned out they felt that torpedoes were indeed coming at us. However later that week it turned out the was a problem with one of our ships faulty parts which happened to be what they were hearing. However the damage had been done as the Gulf of Tonkin resolution had been made already in response and we were doing airstrikes in Vietnam. So there was no turning back after that point" |

Sadly Korea itself wouldn't allow that.
