| So they are not buyable from the website then? As there is no method to fetch the quantity bought? |

'Note: ROBLOX itself does not record the purchase record of developer products by users. It is the game developer's responsibility to track this, typically with Data Stores.'

@eosob
Yes, he phrased a part of the wiki that answered your question. The fact that the website does not track developer product purchases means that they are not purchasable on the website, if you actually spent some time using your brain. |

@200AB, I suggest you re-read.
"'Note: ROBLOX itself does not record the purchase record of developer products by users. It is the game developer's responsibility to track this, typically with Data Stores.'"
Nowhere does it say about the website not supporting the selling of these of the website, it says "ROBLOX itself" which suggested to be me that it simply does not record the quantity bought. |

Developer products have a peculiar quality about them which allows them which allows them to be purchased multiple times. The current system is designed for one-purchase ("ownable") assets; there is a `PlayerOwnsAsset` method which tells you if a player owns an asset or not. However, developer products are not "ownable" in much the same way other types of assets are. Therefore, if they were to be purchasable on the website, a new interface would be required in order to handle the specificity of this rather non-specific type of asset.
Besides the lack of "ownability" of developer products, it makes much more sense to sell them in-game than it does to sell them on-site. It would most likely be more effective for the developer to make an in-game shop displaying relevant developer products, which they can apply their own themes and marketing tricks to, than to simply let the site do the work for them. The fact that these items (formally called "products") are forced to be sold in-game (and forced to be sold per-game) allows the developer to more carefully record and track analytics about these products, which would be harder to do if it were sold through an on-site interface.
Long story short, these things are not able to be sold on the website, and for good reason too. Sell them in game, kid. |
