Yes I know this isn't code debugging, I need your opinion on a couple things
Answer these questions! Thanks!
1. Infinite + 1 =
2. Infinite - 1 =
3. Infinite + Infinite =
4. Infinite x 2 =
5. Infinite - Infinite =
My answers;
1. Infinite
2. Infinite
3. Infinite
4. Infinite
5. -Infinite
If you have different answers, please post them
I thought I'd put this in scripters helpers because scripting is pretty much, math. So I figured you'd guys know these things!
Thanks in advance! |

All of the above are NaN. Infinity is a concept, not a number, thus you cannot use mathematical operations with it. |

Here let me explain infinite
Infinite is a concept of never ending, for example life will go on for an eternity, which is infinite term for time, for another example the universe is forever expanding, which makes it virtually endless, or infinite! Jehovah has infinite love also!
So have fun, and answer the question! |

We know what infinite is, we're just explaining to you how those questions are pointless.

However, using limits we can find these answers.
1. lim x->inf (x + 1) = inf
2. lim x->inf (x - 1) = inf
3. lim x->inf (x + x) = inf
4. lim x->inf (2x) = inf
5. lim x->inf (x-x) = 0 |

Infinity + 1
That would be adding 1 to an already infinite number (infinity) which just makes it infinite. But if you subtract like, infinite from a infinite, your subtracting an endless number from a endless number, hence that would be the same as subtracting it from any other number, because it infinitely would go down, so a negative infinite, I get what you guys are saying, but do you understand my point of view? |

Your point of view is wrong, though. You CANNOT think of infinity as a number, or you come up with flawed logic like you're currently displaying. |

Well, I guess so, but if infinity is commonly used as a number example;
The universe is infinite cm cubed in volume
That is true, and infinity was used as a number! |

That is not true, because infinity is not a number. Nobody ever said the universe has a volume of infinity cubic cm. Why? Because it is stupid to say that.
Infinity is NEVER used as a number in any sort of valid work. |

This argument is pointless, lets just stop.
Although it is used as is number (I used it, so take out never and replace with usually.)
Forever is pretty much "infinite" and never is "-infinite" and forever/never is a concept of time, which is often put into numbers example;
"A little while ago, I burnt down my house" Becomes "30 minutes ago I burnt down my house"
So this; "I am going to be waiting forever" Becomes "I am going to be waiting an ________ amount of time"
Which means the same as
"I am going to be waiting for infinity"
Which means, in the concept of time, infinity is used ALOT every time you say forever you are saying infinity!
I rest my case! |

Infinity (symbol: ∞) is an abstract concept describing something without any limit and is relevant in a number of fields, predominantly mathematics and physics. The English word infinity derives from Latin infinitas, meaning "the state of being without finish", and which can be translated as "unboundedness", itself calqued from the Greek word apeiros, meaning "endless".
"abstract concept"
last time I checked that's not a number |

in my opinion, infinite would be like a variable with an unknown value
1. Infinite + 1 = Infinite + 1
2. Infinite - 1 = Infinie - 1
3. Infinite + Infinite = 2(Infinite)
4. Infinite x 2 = 2(Infinite)
5. Infinite - Infinite = 0 |

Infinity is NEVER used as a number in any sort of valid work. This means your use of infinity is not valid.
Yes, this argument is pointless. However, the argument continues because you refuse to accept the fact that you are WRONG. Instead of opening your mind and wanting to learn something new (or a correction of a previous thought), you are being closed minded and stubborn.
Being wrong is in the process of learning. Everybody is wrong at some point. It's life. |

| I am not close minded, infinity is used as a number in concepts of time, you cannot explain that, not in an infinite amount of years, I know what I'm talking about, I just can't explain it. So if your not gonna say its s number and answer questions, just let the thread die. |
