You see; US is turning into a consumerist state.
The big guys make tech and sell it (which doesn't last long) so a consumerist buys it.
The big guys now make a newer version.
Then it breaks and becomes worthless.
And it repeats.

these big businesses have a motivation to keep developing and progressing their product
now, that may not always be true if you look at the mediocrity of some products. however, capitalism ensures that businesses have to adapt in order to keep up with their competitors.
slowly, those products that supposedly "break and become worthless" become more and more developed, furthering mankind. |

Competition is good, however, we need to create things cleaner.
Recycle! Don't burn or put garvage in landfills! |

the majority of the manufacturing businesses you're talking about mass-produce plastics in some factory
and now there are many recycling programs which makes sure the pollution to the air is mitigated
also, there are a lot of waste-to-energy programs nowadays, which take this waste and convert it into energy to benefit us |

We're destroying hanitats for animals, we need to use garbage for resources.
In the end, does a man make his materials from scratch?
No; he uses things around him. |

And it repeats. ---------------- Lets look at the (in my opinion) company that makes the best computer chips; Intel. Every 3 years Intel releases a new computer chip on a different architecture. As noted by their 'tick tock' cycle of releases. So the last two architectures they released were Sandy Bridge and Haswall. Haswall compared to sandy bridge has a 5-15% increase but for every GHz it makes its efficiency makes every GHz worth 2. I would say that this release cycle is great and that if Intel stopped doing this video editing and other tasks would soon out do the latest processors that are economically sound. So it is a good thing they do this. |
