| Hopefully it's just cause the devs know how to put games on ps4 more than they do on xbox one, But if the xbox one can't handle games in 1080p(And to be honest, mgs5 doesn't look very demanding) And xbox one only has like 2 games that run in 1080p so far, I'm wondering what will happen a year from now when games become more detailed and have more content, Will the xbox one be able to handle that content or will they have to remove some content? But who knows. Maybe right now they are just messing around with the hardware and learning how to use it |

...dang.
I think Microsoft is really regretting the decision to reduce GPU capability in order to put ESRAM in. That's where the problem really is in. That and the slower DDR3 memory, which normally wouldn't matter, but does matter since both platforms use integrated graphics; memory speed is paramount in integrated graphics.
I think once developers learn how to use the ESRAM properly, then you will see more games running in 1080p on the Xbox One, but they will still have to cut down the amount of post processing effects, due to the Xbox One having less shaders and ROPs. |

this really worries me
the thing about "learning the hardware" is that, they don't. both are made from x86, so it would be stupid easy to dev for both consoles.
if news like this keeps coming out xbox will really start hurting |

@propeller
Well yes and no. Like I said in my first reply on this thread, the ESRAM is the main culprit behind the lack of 1080p on the Xbox One. |

| A next gen console should not have the same resolution as the console created almost a decade ago |

@Crash
Pretty old news if you've watched E3 and their release.
MGS5 was first announced on Xbox One at their convention.
And 360 already has MGS3 and 2 anyways. |

That is quite false. Maybe you were playing stretched 1080p but not native |

@shovuc The eSRAM is a huge problem but it isn't the whole reason that the X1 barely has any 1080p games. The reduced number of ROPs is probably equally as important in it struggling to reach 1080p. That and 32MB of eSRAM just isn't big enough for developers to use for much. Look at what intel did with haswell GT3 (crystalwell). They decided that 32MB is what is currently needed for their iGPUs, doubled it to be sure, then doubled it again for the hell of it. The result is a massive 128MB 77mm^2 of eSRAM. |

Here is my re-review of the Xbox One's problems with 1080p
the esram in the XBOX one was a mistake. While 32MB of frame buffer would be good enough for 1080p imagery, the graphics pipeline is still operating on a very slow DDR3, which has a crippling bandwith of 68GB/s, which the PS4 almost has three times that amount. This means that the Bonaire GPU in the Xbox One wont ever run at it's full potential because of the RAM not being fast enough to accommodate the graphics while the PS4'sPitcairn GPU has lots of bandwidth to use.
The ESRAM also took up a lot of the XBOX One's die space which could of been used for a stronger GPU, like the one in the PS4. since the APU in both consoles are already multi-chip modules (basically tacking on two CPUs as one) if they had stronger (which means bigger) GPUs, there could be yield issues and both consoles could costed a lot more.
As Sama said before, since the GPU in the XBOX One doesnt have a lot of ROPs, I dont even expect for the XBOX One to ever be capabe of consistent 1080p on its titles, with or without 30fps. The HD 7790, the Xbox One's bigger brother in graphics already isnt that fast at 1080p with GDDR5.
I would be VERY suprised if the XBOX One can do 1080p/60fps in the future.

| So you tell me this. Have you played on both of the consoles? And even if you have,it would be the slightest. 1080p and 720p wouldn't change anything on the game. |
