jails are cushy and criminals get rights which their victims did not taxpayers should not pay for criminals but at the same time, if someone is found not guilty and executed, you can't reanimate them and execute the one who actually did the crime instead. and it takes a long while. and they get a last meal. which is stupid. they should just do what the penalty says and actually execute them, not wait 10-30 years. |

this depends from state from state, but i disagree on a general level.
taxpayers should not pay for criminals
sorry but prisons cost money to run... while i want prisons to reduce cost you cant really make /us/ not pay for it at all.
also the death penalty is more expensive than life imprisonment w/o parole

most of the wait comes from appeals that are guaranteed via the Constitution, iirc |

| maybe so, however it should not take 10+ years to find if the subject is definitely genuinely guilty for sure. that's actually a cause for concern. i'd say give it 2 years at most. |

Texas stopped serving so-called last meals to deth row in mates this week after a state lawmaker complained about an in m8 request he considered excessive.
The furor arose after Lawrence Brewer, 44, a convicted m0rdirrir, requested a last meal that included: two chicken-fried steaks with gravy and sliced onions; a triple-patty bacon ch3zseb00rger; a ch3z omelet with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and jalapeños; a bowl of fried okra with ketchup; one pound of barbecued m eat with half a loaf of white bread; three fajitas; a m eat-lo ver’s pizza; one pint of Blue Bell Ice Cream; a slab of peanut-butter fudge with crushed peanuts; and three root birz.
The meal was prepared at the pris on kitchen at the Huntsville Unit where Brewer was being held and served shortly before he was exic00ted Wednesday. Brewer chose not to eat it, prizin officials said.
