My Little Pony; a TV series of animated Equestrial Organisms which was originally meant for young girls (and boys, whether you believe it or not [stated by one the original producers of MLP]), has fetched a whole community of teenagers, and adults. 80% of MLP watchers are males. 60% are college level. Why, you ask? Well, I figured out at least why I like it; it may be the same reason for others.

For the explanation, I'd like to refer to two episodes of MLP as one of the many examples: The Ticket Master, and The Best Night Ever; both in Season 1. In The Ticker Master, Twilight Sparkle gets an extra ticket from P. Celestia to go to the "Grand Galloping Gala." All her friends want to go, and they all have somewhat good reasons, involving life changing opportunities. Twilight doesn't know who to give the ticket to, and at the end of the episode, the problem is solved when they all get tickets from Celestia, and it's a happily ever after kind of thing. On the episode named "The Best Night Ever," Season 1 finale, they all go to the Gala expecting to have the best, life-changing night of their lives.

Now, in most cartoons made for little girls and boys alike, all of the dreams of everyone (except for the evil bad guy) become true and everything ends all peachy (more or less with girls' shows); but, not with MLP; because what the characters don't know, is that everything is going to go wrong, none of their dreams come true, and they all dramatically get taken back down to earth by the end of the episode. This is the kind of thing that I like about MLP. Sure, it can get taken as a young-person cartoon as some points, but this kind of genius story writing where cartoon fiction meets reality. Your far off dreams probably won't come true, and everyone you just met at the Gala is too good for you (no rhyme intended). This show has a sense of real world brutality to it... and I love it.

I also just love the show because ponies are awesome... (< anti-bronies, don't mind this reason.)

TL;DR: If you want to realize why I like the show, read it; otherwise, I don't care. :)
