I have been carefully studying the ideas of time travel, parallel universes, and alternate dimensions for about four years now. I first noticed all of the strange phenomena attached to the subject in the television series Doctor Who, and then proceeded to learn more about the realities and myths of time, space, and the universe. Here is my short essay on Time Travel and it's ability to end the universe. You can flame this all you want, it does not matter to me. Before you say universe(s) is incorrect because the universe is everything, you must remember than an alternate universe is possible because if they are separate, then they are completely unalike. They cannot connect in any way with each other, no matter what, otherwise, the end of everything would happen.
The End of Time via Time Travel The idea that Time Travel can end the universe(s) forever. By: Garrett S. Rhodes ------(Yes this is really me.) Freshman at Halls High School The ideas of time travel vary in many different ways, the main being that you construct a machine that disrupts the time-flow of a specific object, and then reversing the flow of time until it reaches a certain period of time. This is a magnificent idea that would have many benefits on human life, but it could also be the end of the universe in itself. The idea is that time takes up some form of space. Nobody is one hundred percent sure that time will end, but nobody is one hundred percent sure that it will not. Time is actually taking up space that the universe has no need for. Time is stored in a certain area of the universe that is inaccessible at this moment, and it will also continue to grow until it catches up with the universe expanding, forcing time to stop and wait until there is more space available for it. I believe that time is like a ball, but it progresses in a line. If you travel back in time, you create a new line that connects to another point in time. Time will continue to advance until you reach the point in which the first time travel event occurs. Time can not use that same line, because time is always happening, there will always be that line. Time will be forced to create a new line back into that point, and then the process repeats over and over again. The issue with this is that time is still growing. If time travel runs out of space, it will be forced to move in front of time itself to continue its process, resulting in a small overlapping in time. This overlap will cause the current time to be sent back in time, restarting time from that point, so that future time travel is impossible. As referenced earlier, time is always happening, so therefore, time travel is always happening, causing an endless loop in time. You will be unable to continue with time until the overlap is broken, which is very impossible, even with the logic of time travel possibilities. Even though it is impossible to produce time travel in this point of time because of our lack of knowledge on the location of time itself, it is and always will be a bad idea for time travel to happen because of this. Time would cease to continue and the universe will be unable to regenerate itself any more. Time would then start to unwind, causing major errors in the universe because of it’s dependency on time. Time would unravel, parts of time that should not touch will connect, it may cause the end of the known universe. If the theories on multiple dimensions and universes are true, then the end of our universe will be the downfall of over a million. They are based on fixed points in time, parts of time that can not be changed, and when time falls, so will they. It will be the downfall of possibly over two hundred trillion civilizations, including our own. I urge you, scientists and researchers alike, please, do not continue with any more of your works in time travel. It will cause the absolute end of the universe, and possibly many other universes. I am unsure of which dimension or universe ours is based on, and ours may be the source of everything, but if at any way possible this could be mentioned to every known person who is involved with the possibility of time travel, it could save everything. The universe(s) will continue to move on, but we will be unable to change a mistake. All things are destined to happen, and this is proof. This will start making us make less mistakes, this will encourage us to think things through before we do them, so please, I beg of you, anyone at all who reads this, forward it to every person you can. It could save us all. I apologize for the short length of this paper, but this is all the information I could write in thirty minutes. If you are unsure of anything at all, please, message me. Stephen Hawking once said that time travel into the past is not possible, but time travel into the future is possible. I think he is right.
Time travel into the past has already been proven impossible, since you can't go faster than the speed of light. So, you don't have to worry about the universe breaking or anything like that, unless some scientist figures out how to go faster than the speed of light, but that's highly unlikely. Also, if humans ever figured out time travel, wouldn't we be seeing time travelers randomly appearing in our time? We can pretty much conclude from these reasons that time travel is impossible, or at least that humans will never figure out time travel for the duration of the human race's lifetime.
However, time travel into the future is entirely possible. If you move at fast enough speeds, let's say 0.9c (c represents the speed of light, which you cannot reach) the time that passes for you will greatly slow down compared to the time that passes for objects around you. So, when you stop moving, you will be thousands of years into the future and everyone you know will be dead. However, things like friction and air resistance can make this a hard feat to pull off. Let's say that you could move at 0.9c. The friction would be so intense at that speed, that you will burn to death. Air resistance will work the same way. The only thing I can think of now it that go go forward in time, you will have to travel at 0.9c (or whatever) in space. I'm not really sure how that would work or if that would be possible, though.
In conclusion, :D |

>also if we time traveled the earth would move so we would be in space
That would make no difference because of time's relation to earth. It's a bit strange, but wherever your EXACT location (time and all) is would have to be relevant to the planet, so therefore, if you go back in time, your location would not change. |

| If you look into the "Science of Doctor Who" (Yes, I know the show is fictional, but it does have some very realistic ideas, so don't flame me for liking the science that a TV show is based on.) It mentions that the TARDIS is actually a Universe stored inside a box. The interface of the TARDIS can control the location and the date of the box itself. If it is on a planet, then the time specific to the area on the planet is recorded as a "location." The "Location" is specific to that one place in time. If you go back in time, you will find yourself in the same area because the location stays the same, but the time doesn't. It's really hard to explain this in words, but it's like a marker. When you go back in time, you would go back to the marker that you set in the future because when you go back in time, you are actually moving through time AND space to the specific marker in a different time. Very hard to explain with words. I believe an illustration would work better. I'll work on that. |

Guys! Seeing as we're sorta on the line of doctor who here's a little something. This is the fourth doctor explaining how the TARDIS works.

btw OP
I'm younger than you, and I'll tell you a really simplified version.
Many natural barriers will keep us from traveling back into the past. You can travel to the future, just park yourself next to a black hole for a while. |

| Even if we go to the future, there would be no going back. I wouldn't even want to go into the future anyways, seeing how wimpy everyone is today. Who knows what kind of crap the future holds. |
