I think it is a great idea.
It depopulates people from prison so there is more room in the prisons. |

it also burns a massive hole in the pocket of the government (so much for "fiscal conservatism") just for an act of vengeance
maybe if our government wasnt so eager to incarcenrate people there wouldnt be a lot of overpopulated prisons |

| the idea of criminals "getting what they deserve" is appealing to a lot of people, but IRL it just doesnt work that easily, gotta make sure its the right guy and give a fair trial instead of just dragging the guy to a wall and shooting |

Here is my view.
For: - Less criminals - Saves money - Jails are cushy and they have too many rights - Discourages people from crime Against: - More instant than time in jail - Time in jail without freedoms would be potentially worse - Two wrongs don't make a right |

The average person on death row spends around 15 years in prison before execution, so you arent really thinning out jail populations by using the death penalty.
Ugrading the sentence to the death penalty also has an average elevated cost of $3M-$1.9M, so it isnt saving money either. |

Against :(
- Lethal injection can actually be really painful according to post morten findings and is also consistent with wakefulness. It also requires medical personel to be directly involved in killing, which is a fundamental contravention of medical ethics.
- Per 10,000 people, the murder rate was .99% higher in states where the death penalty was allowed. So it does not deter. Considering there is a similar pattern with the number of police officers murdered, this could partially be because people are angered by the penalty being there in the first place. There is no evidence otherwise to show that deterrence works.
- In states such as New Jersey, $253,000,000 were spent but there were no executions.
- The anticipatory suffering is greater than the victim of murder. This is relevant to some cases, but I get that it will probably be more painless.
- And people who have at best a marginal capacity for moral agency because of their mental state? The best way is to just kill them?
-The death penalty legitamizes an irreversible act of violence by the state, and in many countries it will inevitably claim innocent victims. The death penalty on a whole could be viewed as revenge, but justice seems a bit of a far reach.

| If they will be in prison for life, it is a better alternative than supporting them for 70 more years. |

It's better then serving all your life in prison. I mean, you are not going anywhere or doing anything in a life sentence. Should be used for sentences longer than 80 years. (Some sentences can be over 100,000 years) So, there is no point in a life sentence at all. Prisons are always overcrowded. |

Stopping jailing peoples for lifetime would be a solution for this. "Lifetime" means in my country 16 years. |

I think we as a are too eager to throw people in the box.
Our prison systems need reform. Just another fact to consider: 80% of convicted junveniles reoffend. |

"its against human rights"
Since when did you start caring about human rights? Or do you just make 'exceptions'? |

16 years isn't lifetime. If they jail someone and they say it's lifetime, it's 16 years. The name is just called lifetime. |
