... how does one get inspiration for building? I have a problem with laziness, and I have problems "starting" things. I mean, I can build off of something just fine, but starting with a blank baseplate is hard. I need to build the place for my group, and I've been putting it off for a few days, and I'd like to get started on building it now.

| Well, get motivation first. Also inspiration. If you know someone who has built something really cool, make them show you around. That's what happened yesterday and now I am building an awesome unique skyscraper (you can see my first game). |

Usually other work makes it worse for me. I end up comparing work, and... yeah. I like to be perfect, and that train of thought doesn't help me much.

| Then do something to help you get motived, like watching Youtube videos of people building really cool stuff, or visit a place in real life and you can base off whatever you want to build from that. |

Again, same response goes to that.

How do you get inspired? For a clan base, start with a piece of paper. Make a list and answer these questions.
What is your clan's theme? What are your clan's colours? Where is your clan located, what does that place look like? Why is your clan's place there? Who will be raiding it? How will they raid it? When are they raiding (Ingame, what time of day?)
Or do a bubble web if that's your cup of tea.
Once you're done that, you just start sketching. Halo base? Start with 45º angles and straight lines. Make it blocky and chunky looking.
WWII style clan? Maybe an airfield with Nissen hut hangars. Perhaps even some planes on the ground.
Or maybe a city? Look at pictures of Calgary or Vancouver or Tranna etc and just draw something that mixes all those downtowns. Maybe visit some places some people built, eg Zusik's metro.
Like what you drew? Great. Build it now. Don't like it? Start again. Keep what you like, remove what you don't. In the end you'll have a sketch of what your mind wants it to be. If you can't see the base in your mind, if you can't eat/drink it, write it down, sketch it out, make blueprints. Refer to them. Build it. If you don't like it once it's built, change it. |
