TL:DR Version: Improve the ratings system by giving you a good look at the Place with a time limit, followed by a written review if disliking.
There is an issue. "Play to dislike". Essentially, the book is judged on their covers, and a dislike is very destructive when used inefficiently.
Here come the ideas to solve the problems.
1. An imposed time limit spent inside of the place before you are able to vote, so you can get a good idea of how the place works before you just say "Dislike".
2. A like is very simple, so it does not need a written review. If you want to write praise for the game, there is an option to do that after liking the Place. But, a dislike is often very vague. If you give a dislike, you have to write a constructive list of ideas as to how to improve the Place in question. These are reviewed by Review Moderators, initially double-duty Forum Moderators and then actual Review Moderators.
2A. This is an example of a bad review:
"This was made with Free Models. You suck, go die in a hole."
It states the flaw, but offers no help and instead relies on reportable behavior. The Review Moderator will delete the dislike. Repeated offenses will result in punishment toward your account.
2B. This is an example of a good review:
"I see that your game was made with Free Models. I understand that you are a new/inexperienced Builder/Script-er, so I will direct you to the Help Forums. Go to "Building Helpers" for Building Tutors, and "Scripting Helpers" for Scripting Tutors. State your vision of the game, and they will offer you help, if you are willing to accept help."
This is the kind of behavior that will win you a Gift for the Giftsplosion/Gift Hunt. Not only does it state what is wrong, but it also points to appropriate areas of guidance to help the creator on the path to success. The Review Moderator will approve the dislike, if it was a dislike, and send the review to the Creator via a separate PM folder.
Time for a little Q&A, for I realize that there are flaws in the idea.
Q: "The mods will get power hungry!"
A: The mods are more focused on user happiness. Messing up means they will lose their Real Life jobs, the only exception being Price Floor.
Q: "But they will still play to dislike!"
A: This is like trying to steal Fort Knox's Gold, if Fort Knox was set up from Fiction-land. First, you have to survive the time limit to even dislike. Then, you have to write a constructive, Review Moderator-approved letter to the creator in order for your dislike to survive.
Q: "I bet this will be BC-Only."
A: Nope. It will be tested on Game Test for everyone to try out.
Q: "Spam?"
A: Approval is needed. So, no spam.
Q: "The creator will cuss out/bully good reviews!"
A: The creator cannot respond to the reviews directly. And even if the creator contacted the dis-liker via IM/PM to cuss out/bully, the dis-liker can report for bullying.
Q: "How will the creator know your ideas were approved?"
A: The creator will acknowledge the people who gave him/her the ideas. If your name is listed, you can retract your dislike/review and either like it or leave it alone.
Q: "I will think of something!"
A: You do that. I will dig around my brain and come up with a solution.
This is the end of the idea. Remember to leave a constructive post if you are done reading either the long version or the TL:DR Version. |

1. A helpful voice can lean a terrible Place in the right direction.
2. A constructive voice means good future front page games. |

what
do calm discussions really work this way?
you said your opinion and I made a terrible comment that ignores your post and just objects to not being allowed to give negative opinions out for no reason |

1. Yeah. Sure.
2. No. Mods have better things to do. Also, comments were designed for this. |

1. I can tell that was sarcasm. In that case, what do you have that will improve the idea?
2. Then how will the reviews be reviewed? Or, if not reviewing reviews, what else do you have to improve the idea? |

1: I don't do sarcasm. Well, mostly. I am not a total idea-hater, only the impractical/scriptable ones.
2: You cannot moderate something like that easily. Its like checking every single forum post; too expensive. |

Yet Forum Moderators exist. Sure, it can't be every dislike, only the ones that are popular enough for review. |

@nairb: But they do not read every thread. A quick scan, maybe a post now and then. But if they read every thread then there would be a LOT less spam.
And I don't like this favouritism.
On the other hand, if a game gets a large amount of dislikes then the mods could maybe quickly scan through these reviews...
If they are typed in and sent to the player to an alternate inbox, and ignoring the "mod reads everything ever" section, limiting it only to if a game has a high volume of dislikes, then sure.
We could call these mods "Quality Enforcers" ;) |

| I like where this is going, but at the same time there's heaps of awful games and I don't want to play for a huge amount of time just to express my opinion on it. |

@DeemedTroll
1. AFK to vote if you really want to express your opinion that badly. Also, the time can be determined by ROBLOX.
2. Leave and play something else. |

"Leave and play something else"
And then the game has 0 dislikes because nobody can be bothered waiting for the timer to be over. |

I'm actually experimenting with an addon that will also result in 0 likes because nobody can be bothered waiting for the timer to be over. |

| But, you will rarely have any dislikes for the game. Mostly because, if someone REALLY did not like the game, and quit before they reached the time limit to vote, they will not be able to vote! |
