yes, but suis is the conjugation of je for the word être, to be so by saying "je suis de americain" (don't capitalize nationalities) you are saying i am from American you want to say Je suis d'Amérique

Yes, but "Americian" isn't the right spelling.
It's Amerique*. So it's "Je suis de L'Amerique"
And
"Je suis de New Jersey" because you can't be New Jersey yourself.

No, not really. "Amerique" is a content. You would say "Je suis des États-Unis"."
Sorry about that, it's only now you say it that I know that "Amerique" is "Amerique du Sud" or "Amerique du Nor" (South America, North America)
