As an example of how you can use custom animations in your place, I've created an example tool that uses an animation I uploaded with the Animation Editor.
You can find the model here: http://www.roblox.com/Animation-Test-Gear-item?id=144411330
You will need to place this into the StarterPack in your place and then open the LocalScript in the Animate tool and replace the ID with the ID of your animation, much like you would if you were using a Decal.
Also, in order to have the new animation override the default animations, you will either need to disable the default animation script or make sure the Priority of your animation is Movement or Action. |

It costs money to upload Animations, which means i'm never going to use it. It is much simpler, and cheaper, to create a animation using your own scripts. This is pointless to use. |

You've forgotted something: that animation isn't free to grab nor use. |

| nice to have an example... Bothers me that selecting a studio tools causes the editor to close. Did it twice on accident, it's getting a bit frustrating. Otherwise despite it's simplicity it does the job for animating, makes it pretty easy. |

"It costs money to upload Animations"
...why
that's almost as if you're trying to discourage game creation |

| I agree. It shouldn't cost money unless you're going to moderate them and check through every one. |

| I'll be blunt - if you cannot afford 30 R$ on animations, then you probably won't have the funding to make a game successful. :l |

Wrong, you do not need loads of money for a successful game, you can create a very nice game without a lot of money. Though roblox is slowly pushing toward people needing money to create nice games, such as pricing almost everything on roblox, like sounds.

ROBLOX needs money tough. For example. People loved uploading audio as it was 250 R Now that its 100 R ALOT of people can upload more than 1 audio in just 1 day |

Those who are saying that you don't need money to be famous. Apparently, people haven't heard of marketing.

| The only reason you may need money is for Audio, and for Ads, that's it. |

| Why would you bother moderating animations? Anyone could release an animation plugin(already done in the past before animations were restricted) that allows users to make animations using welds which wouldn't need to be moderated and are free. Then just about every person who wanted to use a pre-built animation system would use that, completely bypassing the animation moderation. |

| I do like how animations can be easily interrupted and have different types like core, action, movement so they can take different priorities. |

presumably the animations require more moderation time, just like audio
all the same, it still bothers me that it costs virutal e-mon to create them |

I cannot think of any good reason why Roblox would need to moderate animations. If they are worried about people creating inappropriate animations, then they might as well have a moderation wait-time for places themselves, because there are plenty of ways to shape bricks into inappropriate structures. Also, shouldn't they be moving more of the mods to the horrifically unregulated Roblox chat system, not this? Seriously, join any front page game and see how long it takes someone to drop an F-bomb; it probably won't take long.

| @Xnite: They don't lose money from DevEx. Other people spend more money on Robux than the developers gain from cashing it in. |

"figures since they're wasting money on devex"
See, here's the thing. DevEx promotes good games. More people want to make good games, so they can make some real money. In order to make this money, they need to actually get robux. So they sell things in the game. People want to buy these things with robux (which they spent real money on), and boom you have a circle of win win win.
Devs get money because devex Roblox gets money because players buy stuff from places Players get to play cool places, and buy stuff they want |

| Especially with the ratio from buying to cashing out (based on what I saw in previous threads) being 10:1. |
