They're different. Both are based off a Unix clone but they aren't the same thing.

It isn't based off the Linux kernel. That's the only requirement for being a Linux OS.

sigh

Also is OS X was Linux based it would have to use the GPL license, which would mean we would be able to get all of OS X's source code.

@custom Macs run Windows games, so you'll never need a windows-only computer <3

yes it does

Macs can dual boot windows (best performance, not as convenient since you have to restart)
or use parallels (good performance, not best perfomance, very convenient, executes exe files inside OS X)

You do realize that you're running Windows.
That's not "playing the game on mac os"
That's buying a separate copy of Windows and installing it on your Mac hardware, or inside a virtual machine

Actually, OS X and Linux are both Unix-based operating systems, while also both being different OSs. Now shut up about it.

parallels costs money, and cannot play games at a good fps. Also, dual booting is not actually installing windows on your mac. It is still running windows through a console based emulator.

@kma Since when is dual booting not booting into another OS? It boots into windows which is installed on another partition. It runs at native speed. Apple has drivers for the keyboard and stuff (like with the function keys)

First you have to buy Parallels and then a Windows license.

Parallels costs money, boo hoo. Windows costs money too, and you're not complaining.

@jacob You don't absolutely require parallels, it's just more convenient. All you need is a windows copy.

You don't understand.
I could dual boot Windows on a PC with Linux. Does that mean it's the Linux running Windows programs?
