Didn't bother editing it at all pretty much. Just a couple lines here and there and changed the introduction.

**Special thanks to all who have supported me, in any aspect. Thank you.
Made for the Vaktovian Ascension Core, as well as The Vaktovian Empire.
Especially for the amusement of the subforum known as Clans and Guilds.**

"As a young boy, I had always enjoyed the fresh air, the open space, the cold sunlight. I had always taken it for granted. I regret that. Never take what you love for granted. You never know when it will be taken away from you."

**Introduction**

I wrote this story without any preparation for it. I just... started it. This is not meant to be taken one hundred percent literally. Most of this, if not all, is fiction, made to play with the mind. I spent hours upon hours working on this, something I have never done before. I have come to realize that I absolutely love creative writing. I just can’t stop myself from writing. It’s a gift and a burden.
The best way for me to write is to just let the story tell itself over the course of time. There’s no sense in forcing the words into the characters mouths. Let them speak for themselves, dance around on the lines, tell the story the way they want it to happen. If you’re even a somewhat skilled writer, you will be able to tell when dialogue seems forced.
To me, the best story is the one written not completely out of dialogue. There is no need for that much talking. Just let the thoughts of the character(s) tell the story, with some dialogue, but not an excessive amount.
I truly just love writing and want to write as much as I can, leaving a mark with stories.

Now, onto the actual story.
The Vaktovian Empire occupies the planet of Stariek, the home planet of Xaleyp Vah’Aris. They are always there, always watching, making sure no one steps out of line. They have replaced the local governments, setting up the imperialistic government of the Empire, capturing the planet. Trade between Stariek and other planets is controlled by Vaktovia, causing the economy of the planet to collapse. It seemed the planet has been trapped in this state for the next millenia.
The Vaktovian Empire has been around for thousands of years, and for the majority of that time was one of the weakest Empires in the galaxy, yet it somehow managed to hang on. Eventually, it got intelligent leaders who were able to pull it out of the ‘depression’ that Empire was in, bringing it to its place of the strongest Empire in the known universe, until a new Empire, a smaller Empire, comes along.
Xaleyp Vah’Aris the the son of the most influential, and the richest, family on the planet of Stariek. He does the same thing everyday, walks the streets thinking about everything. At least, before they come for him. When they do, he will have to make a choice.

From the description I made for it on wattpad:

The Universe is on the verge on a catastrophic collapse. The two Empires that control the universe are at war, dividing the Universe. The planet of Stariek is but a speck on the intergalactic scale, until one attack changes history.

Xaleyp Vah'Aris is a noble unlike any other in his home city of Mornage, which is also the capital of Stariek. The Vaktovian Empire had taken over the planet when he was a child, ruining the economy of the planet.

Xaleyp quickly realizes he has a talent for combat and other civilizations recognize it as well, whisking him away from corner to corner of the universe. He is but a pawn in a much larger game of chess, much larger than him, The Vaktovian Empire and it's enemy, The Grand Imperium.

Every chapter is going to begin with a quote that I made up on the fly. The quote may be good and thought-provoking, but may, more realistically, be ignorant sounding.

Chapter I
The Metropolis

“The world around us is so beautiful. Stop, think, and look around you. You didn’t notice how beautiful it was before? Now you did. Never move so fast as to stop noticing what has been around you for years.”

When I was young, I was always playing outside, running through fields, jumping through puddles after a storm. I caught butterflies, played with them. I picked flowers, brought them to my village. Everything seemed perfect as a child, not a care in the world! Nothing could hurt me! Nothing could ever bring me down out of this state of euphoria!

How I once thought like that, I haven’t the slightest idea. Now, the former seems like such a distant memory. The happy times I had enjoyed has a child have mostly disappeared from my memory, if not completely. These days, I walk the streets alone, in my royal robes, ebony and crimson trailing behind me, a snow white wolf cape down my back. I had always enjoyed walking these streets, but these days seem to have discontinued that. I always want to go back inside, never stay out longer than I need to. I seemed to never want to do the things I once loved, picking flowers for my mother and sister, catching butterflies, feeling them wriggle in my fingers, tickling me. Sitting under a tree in the midst of summer, feeling the breeze running over me.

I used to love skipping down the street without worrying about anything, just moving along, skipping, whistling, skipping, whistling. I never thought I would ever miss it. Every day is the same; the red and blue suns coming up over the mountains, cooling down the valley, orbiting each other. They never, in all my life, had warmed Stariek. Always just cooled it down. It seemed to be hotter at night when the dual suns were hidden behind the mountains than when they exposed themselves.

The sounds of the forest in the valley could be heard from any part of the metropolis of Mornage, where the Vah’Aris Royal Family held influence. There was a cacophony of bird calls heard throughout the day, never hearing the exact same one twice. Tigers hunted. Fish flopped in the lakes. Wolf pups played up and down the streets. No one seemed to be bothered by any of the noise, mostly because of the fact they always had radios in their ears, always listening to the news or music. People seemed to move too fast, never slowing down, never seeing the beauty in nature. I was an exception. I stopped constantly to observe the beauty in the world around me, never knowing how long it will be around. The massive buildings of Mornage rose hundreds of feet into the air, made out of metal. The buildings broke through the skyline, then kept going higher and higher, seeming to curve away. The frightening height was dizzying when looking straight up, standing under it, still. People seemed to not realize the danger they presented, not to individuals, but the planet as a whole. Skyscrapers seemed to be the only buildings constructed these days, apartments being made out of them, as if anyone could buy them, or even rent, them. I lived in a suburban area outside the main city, on the hills, where the rich resided. A wall was built to keep the poor out of the richer area, made out of durasteel, an incredibly strong and versatile metal alloy. There has never been a breach of the walls in all my life. Factories were located throughout the city, pushing pollution into the air, killing nearby trees. The rivers near factories were green from the wastes released into them from the factories, killing sea life.

I never thought of how much the city I lived in affected the environment. I always had embraced it and never paid much attention to it. Now that I have, I realized how much the planet is being killed because of the ways of the corporations that just want to make money, not worrying about the creature lives that they remove.

I wandered the streets alone, the only one actually thinking. Everyone else was just pretending to think. I studied the arts, uncommon in this society. I studied philosophy, a lost wisdom. People walk around as if they are the happiest people in the universe, yet fail, refuse, to look at how unhappy they really are.

The Vaktovian Empire had seized control the of the planet when I was an infant. The local governments had been demolished, disintegrated, and the world’s government was set up in the imperialistic ideology of the Empire. They are the omnipresent force of Stariek, always watching for those that step out of line. Children were punished for not acting mature and strict at all times, creativity beaten out of them while they were young. I was an exception to this, never having the creativity stamped out of me, never punished for not being strict and mature. I was one with an individual mind, a rarity on Stariek.

With The Vaktovian Takeover, as it is so commonly called, trade between Stariek and other planets was also seized by Vaktovia, collapsing the economy of the planet. The gap between the rich and poor was astronomical. There was no middle class. You were either poor or rich. I was lucky enough to be among the rich. I have always wanted to help the poor, restore the economy of Stariek, bring it back to what it once was, however my parents had disallowed it, saying we must not bother with the poor and let the problem sort itself out. I disagreed with this, though I did not voice my opinion.

As I continued my walk down the streets, I stopped. I knelt to tie my shoe, then continued walking. I walked past the Vaktovian Headquarters, just on the street across from me. I saw them slowly move toward me, making their way sluggishly across the street. I kept walking normally, and turned into an alley that was just on my right. As I walked down the alley, I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around. The Vaktovian Soldiers were there, nanosights stared at me, piercing my eyes, calling for me.

“Turn around, slowly, and put your hands up,” said the obvious superior of the group.

I did so, without thinking. They came up to me, tied my hands with a magnetic rope, pulled me to my feet, then marched me to the Vaktovian Headquarters in Mornage.

As we entered the door, a shuttle in the back took off, streams of blue and white trailing behind it. I stopped to gaze at it, amazed at how advanced it was. I thought it must have been a prototype for the new shuttles. The soldiers shoved me through the automated door, not letting me stop.

Chapter II
The Destruction

“The destruction of one world, one empire, brings about the beginning of another, which will hopefully be better; more advanced, richer, stronger, than the last.”

As they pushed me down the long corridors of the Vaktovian Headquarters in Mornage, I looked around, astonished at the architecture of the building. The corridors were made out of thousands of impossibly thin, stone arches. I gazed at each one, each a different shade of the same color, every now and again changing to another color, another shade, another color, another shade. It amazed me at how they could have had the time to do all this in a little over a decade of control of the planet. I realized they must have been planning the invasion of Stariek for years, if not decades.

The windows were stained glass, telling the stories of the centuries that Emperor Vaktus had ruled the Empire, through times of harshness and times of prosperity, never giving up like so many others had before him. The Vaktovian Empire started in the ashes of a long-lost Empire, of which no one remembered the name after such a long time ago. Nearly three millenium ago, The Old Empire, as it is most commonly referred to, fell after the invasion of The Frostarian Union, an association of a countless number of territories of The Old Empire which had formed a rebellion, taking down the Dictator Regime of it, with The Vaktovian Empire putting up its Imperialistic Regime in place of it.

As we continued down the hall, the story progressed, telling of each ruler, none of which lasted more than a century. The Empire had maintained control of one galaxy in the first ‘dynasty’ of rulers, of which the Empire’s economy prospered, making it the richest in the universe. As the dynasty came to an end, the economy collapsed, bringing Vaktovian Influence down to less than a fraction of the same galaxy. The dynasty seemed to collapse because of an Ancient Mystery, most likely known to be a powerful, yet unstable, Empire, which had lasted not much longer than the first dynasty of The Vaktovian Empire.

The next dynasty had ruled with a topaz fist, forcing all citizens to serve at least ten years in the military. It lasted less than a century before it was overthrown by rebels from across the area of Control, albeit miniscule, and a new dynasty replaced it. T

his was the third dynasty of The Vaktovian Empire. It was the least successful, bringing Vaktovian Influence down to only the planet of Vaktovia, where constant pirates plundered, ruining the cities and wildlife of the planet. Vaktovia suffered from disease, famine, unwanted warfare, just trying to survive with what it had, as little as it was. The Government Officials were the richest of everyone, stealing tax money, increasing taxes tenfold. It somehow survived for nearly 700 years in control before the fourth and most recent dynasty stepped in and took over.

The fourth dynasty was by far the most successful of the four. The first ruler of the dynasty, Gareten, replaced the corrupt officials with officials who could care less about the money they received. This set up the Empire for a restoration period. He set up a draft where able-bodied citizens had to serve for at least three years, most of which served much longer. Constant invasions led to the expansion of the Empire once more, reconstructing the economy, bringing Vaktovian Influence to a total of five galaxies. With this, The Vaktovian Empire became the fiercest fighting force in the universe, no other Empire had come to close to the ferocity of the soldiers, nor the fear that was instilled when the invasion ships came out of the sky. Gareten had led the Empire to victory time and time again. He had not lost one battle before his untimely death to an assassin who had made it no more than two steps outside of the royal Palace before being gunned down by guards.

The ruler who replaced Gareten might as well have not have replaced him. He was one of the worst leaders that had had the responsibility of the Empire on their shoulders. His name was Marhet, father of Vaktus. He slowly killed the Empire before his son killed him, taking control of the Empire. Vaktus brought the Empire to its greatest extent within a decade of constant invasions, a total of seven galaxies under Vaktovian Control, another ten under Vaktovian Influence. The economy of the Empire had exploded, bringing it once again to the richest civilization in the Empire. There was no such thing as a poor person, or a homeless person within the boundaries of Vaktovia. The massive skyscrapers of the planet rose thousands of feet in the air, supplying homes for the two trillion people inhabiting the planet. The population had taken a shockingly high increase within the decade Vaktus had been leader so far. A jump from the mere fifty billion to the seemingly impossible two trillion. There was no unemployment, everyone had a job to do, be it in the military, commerce, or politics.

Constant invasions of other planets expanded the Empire daily, bringing it to a greater extent with each takeover. Their most celebrated victory was the invasion of The Frostarian Union, which had somehow survived for two and a half thousand years before Vaktus became Emperor. He sent every troop he had to demolish the chains that kept them together for so long. In a single wave, a single invasion, The Frostarian Union fell, bringing with it the resistance that could have stopped The Vaktovian Empire’s reign over the known Universe.

The invasion of The Frostarian Union consisted of seventy five thousand of Vaktovia’s finest soldiers, accompanied by fifty million other soldiers, mainly consisting of hardly trained Army Corps soldiers and lesser Vaktovian Soldiers. One thousand Vaktovian Badanovs had taken flight, spread out among the Galaxy of which The Union held control of. Thousands of transports shot out once in the systems of the most defended planets, followed by high powered plasma beams which devastated the ground cannons which had begun to shoot at the fleets. The Union fell within forty eight hours, the quickest invasion led by Vaktus. The total casualties of The Union is unknown, though it is thought to be in the high tens to hundreds trillions. The Vaktovian Empire lost less than five thousand lesser Soldiers, and none of its Finest. After the Invasion, Vaktus settled down in the constant invasions. The Empire slowly stopped expanding, maintaining its size, its prosperity, its prestige.

As we kept walking down the seemingly endless corridor, more and more of the windows were taken up by Vaktus’ achievements, from building the most elaborate palace to grace the universe, to the simplest park built on Vaktovia. Children in Vaktovia were sent to camps at birth, where they were trained from day to night in combat. The extensive training consisted primarily of memorization of confidential techniques, known only to Vaktovian Soldiers. These techniques allowed Vaktovian Forces to overwhelm their enemy, even when heavily outnumbered. The fear instilled by the sight of Vaktovian Uniforms was enough to keep invasion forces away from Vaktovian Territory, leaving the aspiring Empires, none of which strong enough to crumble The Vaktovian Empire, fighting each other for Vaktovia’s favor. At least, none of them were strong enough until one came along, different than the others. It easily cast aside its enemies, destroying them dexterously. Vaktovia took notice of it and kept tabs on it, watching its every move. As it reached the size of one galaxy, Vaktus was warned of it. The Emperor decided it was time to begin studying their tactics, which looked as if they would be able to counter Vaktovian Techniques. Soon, new arts in warfare emerged in Vaktovia, which were thought to be able to counter the smaller, yet maybe as powerful, Empire.

This was all the information I was able to gather from the stained glass on my way down the corridor, which seemed to be ending in a couple steps. We stopped at the door at the end, engraved with gold and diamonds, as well as emeralds and rubies. I realized this was the door of someone very important from Vaktovia.

The door slid open with a hiss after the guard on my right punched in the code in the keypad. At the other side of the marvelous room sat a robed figure in a huge throne. The throne swiveled around slowly, ominously, glaringly. The figure that sat in the throne was none other than Vaktus himself. He was a well-built figure, not too skinny, nor too fat. He looked to be just strong enough to overcome any melee assailants if his guards were unable to stop them in time. I saw a glint at his waist as the throne turned around. An elegant sword, which must have been for if he was unable to overcome his enemies. Swords were an uncommon sight in these days, and only the richest of the rich had them.

“Leave us.” He hissed at the guards, who hurried out. After they were gone, he spoke again. “So, you are Xaleyp Vah’Aris, I presume?”

“Yes, I am.” I replied.

Emperor Vaktus stared me down, waiting for me to make a wrong move.

“Do you know why I had my guards bring you, of all people, here?” he said.

“No, I do not know why.” I put it simply. I heard an unnatural roar of an engine, many engines, unlike any I had heard before.

The guards outside the Headquarters watched the citizens of Mornage pass by on their morning walks to work. Abruptly, five colossal space vessels entered the planets atmosphere, blasting away the planetary defenses. The giant metropolis housing half a billion people was catching fire, faster than anything that had been seen before. The vessels carried Arcadian Logos on their sides. The Grand Imperium, the Empire formed around Arcadia, was the only Empire that stood a chance, even a slight one, against Vaktovia. Now, it seemed it was taking its chance at taking down the mightiest Empire to have ever stood. The Vaktovian Soldiers on the planet immediately launched a defensive against the Arcadian Capital Ships. The fighters of which the Vaktovians flew did little to the massive hulls of the Arcadian Vessels.

Emperor Vaktus turned around to look out the immense window that I had previously not noticed. It was also stained glass, depicting a picture of the Vaktovian Flag, a somewhat ‘Y’ shape. The city, the planet, was under attack by Arcadian Forces. The Emperor immediately called in for reinforcements when he saw the fighters scramble, attacking the gargantuan vessels, doing seemingly nothing against them. The vessels targeted the Vaktovian Headquarters, sending a concentrated beam of plasma at the building. The ray ripped apart the walls, destroying the glass. The shattering screech from the destruction of the building rang in my ears. The walls crumbled in, the ceiling caved with no support from the walls. Mornage started falling apart under the pressure of the beams that had been sent into it. The city seemed to be a beacon of hope in the Universe. A beacon of hope that The Vaktovian Empire was going down a spiral to which it could never recover.

Chapter III
The Fall

“Many things happen when an empire falls. First, the influence that the Empire has begins to reduce, retracting back to the core of the Empire. Then, the military begins to suffer defeat at every turn and lose moral. The Empire’s area of control begins to drastically decrease as a new Empire takes it over. The economy starts to collapse as control reduces. Eventually, the failing Empire is no longer an Empire, it’s at the point where it is only a planet.”

As the walls of the headquarters caved in, an explosion rocked the floor of the room, opening up an escape passage. Vaktus shouted something incomprehensible at me. Assuming he said to catenate him, I went with him as he went down the chute. As he closed the chute behind us, the walls hit the floor with a massive shout, spreading dust over a square mile of the city. The city continued to be bombarded by the Arcadian Fleet as the Emperor and I made our way down the passage. With every explosions, the egress’s dim light shook, eventually causing some lights to go out, bathing us in the blinding darkness.

After what seemed like days, while actually being a few hours, we reached a point where a bright light was at the end. The explosions had stopped long ago, yet I had hardly noticed. A few minutes later and we found ourselves exiting the tunnel that had protected us for so long. I found us in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The once so beautiful trees of Stariek were nothing but trunks, if even that. The Arcadian Bombardment had left the planet barren, dead. The trunks a light tan from the explosions, I touched it. It fell with my gentlest touch, lifeless, to the ground with a soft thud, as if it had been destined to do that. I looked around. I saw the lights of the city, more or less destroyed, a few miles away. The ships hovered over the city, looking for any survivors, especially Vaktus. After a few minutes of watching, they left the city and started out of the atmosphere.

A hardly audible voice came from behind me.

“Come.”

I turned around. Vaktus had started to walk away from the city, to a bush. He pushed a button in it. The ground in front of me opened up, revealing a hidden ship built for just this kind of situation. The door to the small warship opened with the touch of another button. We got inside.

“Do you know how to fly?” Vaktus asked.

“No idea,” I replied.

“Well, it’s time you learned.”

I stared at him as he sat in the copilot seat, wide mouthed. After a few seconds, I sat down in the pilot seat. I slowly tried to figure out what each control did. After minutes of going over the controls, I turned to Vaktus, who was sitting there rather patiently. I eventually turned on the warship, then slowly took off, heading for the atmosphere. I looked sideways at the once magnificent city of Mornage. It was still for once. I turned the ship away from the city, then shot out of the atmosphere.

I did not look back.

After leaving the atmosphere, I gradually slowed down, looking for the button to make the jump to hyperspace. I found it after a moment’s search, then hit the knob. The stars stretched out in front of us, sending us hurtling through space to Vaktovia. As I thought about what I could expect from the planet, a transmission came in through the radio for Vaktus. He picked it up. A conversation between him and the being on the other side of the radio went on for a minute.
“The entire Empire is under assault.” Vaktus said after a few minutes of silence.
I did not know how to reply to that, the fact the Empire you spent your entire life building crumbling in front of your very eyes. I opened my mouth to speak.

Suddenly, we came out of Hyperspace. Vaktovia filled the viewports. The pulchritudinous planet made my breath stop short. Vaktus saw me take a deep breath in.

As we got closer, the lights from the cities dazzled my eyes. The planet seemed to not be under barrage from the capital ships that had devastated my planet. A single tear rolled down my cheek at the thought of the planet that I had considered my own for my life destroyed before my eyes. I wiped it away and continued to fly towards the planet, seeing the giant metropolis which covered the planet, the outlines of the circular plazas visible from space. All of these areas were connected by a bridge, all leading up to one giant circle, obviously the main sector.

As we entered the atmosphere, I slowed the warship down as the communication tower radioed us coordinates to land. I found them with ease and set the ship down as Royal Guardians of Vaktus swarmed out of the building. He exited the ship first, followed by me. As I got off, the Guardians seized me and wrapped electromagentic rope around my wrists behind my back. As they tied the rope off, they swung a sort of blunt object over my head, knocking me unconscious instantly.

I woke up hours later, strapped to an operating table. A tube was sticking out of my right arm, in my vein. On the tube, I read the bold letters “VACCINE”. I wondered what it could possibly mean as the drug known as sleep wore off. I looked around the room, into the darkness, that I was in. I saw slight movement out of the corner of my eye. Two people. Both with cybernetic implants. They seemed to be carrying on a conversation about me.

“He seems to be the most well suited person to become a VACCINE.” One of them stated.

“That doesn’t matter! You must consult the Emperor before injecting anyone with the VACCINE!” The other said. I moved slightly. They both stared at me.

“He’s awake!”

“Quick, put him under!”

The room around me stretched out, slowly blurring. The voices mixed together. Slowly, the room went to black as I went out.

I woke up in a pod shot out of a Vaktovian Capital Ship. I floated through space for what seemed like hours, though was no more than a few minutes, before slamming into something. The pod broke exploded, unconstricting me. An assault rifle and pistol lay on the ground next to me in the debris of the pod. I looked around. Many Arcadian bodies littered the ground. I picked up the weaponry sent with me and became accustomed to it before Arcadian Soldiers came to the sight of the destruction. I gunned them down as they rounded the corner, killing them instantly. I ran down the direction the came from, assuming that was the way to the bridge.

On my way, I encountered more Arcadian Soldiers, gunning them down with ease, paving a way to the Bridge. I eventually reached a lift leading up to the bridge. I got in and pushed the button taking me up. It slid up the shaft at a high speed, lights outside seen going up and down, or maybe it was down and up, the lift. I heard a noise outside the lift, a scraping noise. The lift slid to a halt, but the door remained closed. I heard a tapping noise outside the life. A laser slid through the wall, weakening it. An Arcadian jumped through the weakened wall, slamming me against the opposite wall. He punched me in the throat, forcing me to the ground. I tried to retaliate, but found myself weakened. He picked me up and threw me at the door. I pulled the pistol in my pocket out and shot. The projectile that exploded from the small firearm barely hit him, just scraping him. I got up as he recoiled at the shot.

“Who are you?” I asked.

“Caster. That’s all you need to know.” He replied. At that moment, he charged at me. Surprised, I barely had time to dodge the rush before he charged through the spot I had been in no more than a second ago. He turned towards me and threw a punch at me. I deflected it and returned a punch, hitting him in the stomach. With the air knocked out of him, I kicked him in the chest, sending him flying backwards. He slammed into the opposite wall with a metallic clang. He got up, slowly. He pulled out his pistol as he got up, and I pulled out mine. We aimed at each other.

“Well, looks like we’re at a sort of stalemate.” Caster said.

“It appears we are. Or at least, were.” I said as I shot. He dodged the projectile, charging at me. He slammed his body into me, forcing me into the wall. My pistol went flying out of my hand into the air. It hit the ground with a bang. Caster was pushing his arm against my neck, attempt to crush my windpipe in an effort to kill me. I was struggling to keep his arm from that final inch that would mean death for me.

I brought my knee up, hitting him in the stomach. It did nothing to loosen the crushing power being exerted on my neck. I kicked at his legs, trying to trip him, make him fall. Nothing worked, the world started to go black. With one more push of strength, I used my head to hit in the face, causing his nose to bleed and him to stagger back, which in turn stopped crushing my neck. I picked him up and hit him three times in the head before he kicked me, causing me to drop him. He pulled out a knife and charged at me. He sliced my arm, causing blood to ooze out. I gripped the spot with pain as I backed up, the rage inside me building. I saw my pistol on the ground and dove for it. He saw my eyes go to it and dove at the same time. I got my hand wrapped around it before he had the chance. My forefinger applied pressure to the trigger. He pushed my hand to the side, causing me to shoot the wall of the lift. I tried to build the strength to turn the barrel towards him, what seemed like an impossible task. He was much stronger than me, I could tell by the way he fought. The struggle seemed to go on for minutes, yet was only a few seconds. While still attempting the to turn the gun, I used my other hand to grab my knife from my side and stabbed him in the chest. Sanguine fluid built up where the knife went in, slowly coming out. He fell backwards, his hands on the knife. He pulled it out, lacking the strength for one last desperate attack to kill me. The blood gushed out of the wound, now unrestricted. He looked me in the eyes, and I could see the fear in them. The fear of dying. I made a split second decision.

I grabbed a medical pack out of my supply bag. I pulled a healing enhancer out of it and applied the lotion to the wound where I stabbed Caster. It stopped the blood loss instantly and began to heal the wound.

“Thank you...” Caster croaked.

“It’s nothing. Besides, I can’t let a great soldier like you go to waste.

The lift refused to move any longer after the altercation with Caster. I looked up and saw a hole in the ceiling of the lift I could exit through. I planted one of the incendiary bombs I had in my pocket, unknown to me until this point. I climbed through the hole after setting the timer for 30 seconds. I dislodged the lift, causing it to fall. I grabbed onto a cable outside the lift and started climbing up. As I got to the top door, which was not that far up, the bomb exploded, sending fire up and down the shaft. I force open the door and rolled in as the fire absorbed the spot I was once in. The fire burst into the bridge, incinerating five Arcadians on the bridge. I barely rolled out of the way of the fire before getting up, pulling out my assault rifle and gunned down the remaining six Arcadians before they realized what was going on. The Captain of the ship stood up and turned around. I shot him once in the arm, causing him to cry out in pain. Still running, I slid, kicking his gun away from him and punching him in the face, knocking him out. Somehow, by some unknown force, I knew my mission was not to destroy the ship, but to capture the Captain of it. I did so with ease.

I messaged the VAX on the ship that fired me into the Arcadian Ship that I had the objective. They immediately sent a carrier to pick us up. As we got in, four Arcadian Capital Ships came out of hyperspace, obviously responding to a distress signal. They fired their massive cannons at the Vaktovian Cruiser, destroying it instantly. The carrier I was in flew off, back to Vaktovia. The Capital Ships followed.

We reached Vaktovia, the gemstone of The Vaktovian Empire, within a few hours. The carrier and Capital Ships began to head for the planet to land, to resupply and refuel. An alarm went off in the carrier.

“Sir, detecting unknown life signs!” an Ensign cried out.

“How many, Ensign?” a Captain asked.

“Too many, sir...”
Out of the viewport, a dozen Arcadian Capital ships, surrounded by hundreds of frigates, came out of hyperspace, relentlessly attacking the once mighty planet.

Vaktus came forward.
“Launch a counterattack! Fast!”

The fighters stationed on Vaktovia sluggishly moved to attack the invading fleet, but to no avail.Vaktovia’s defenses were weakening quickly. The four capital ships by the carrier concentrated fire, destroying the Arcadian Capital Ships. The Arcadian Frigates quickly swarmed the Vaktovian Capital Ships, destroying the life support and engines, leaving them to die.

My carrier flew off, going to the other side of the planet before entering hyperspace.

The battle raged on behind us, the planet going up in flames. The Vaktovian Frigates from the planet regrouped and launched a desperate attack on the Arcadian Ships. The Vaktovian Forces dwindled. The planetary weapons on the surface were not functioning any longer. Slowly, the Arcadia Forces withdrew, satisfied that Vaktovia was destroyed.

Thousands of light years away, a small carrier was nothing in the intergalactic scheme of things. But the people on board can change the course of history.

Vaktus paced the carrier floors. He stopped and addressed us.

“This is a dark time for Vaktovia,” he started. “The entire Empire is now truly under attack, falling apart. The Grand Imperium has truly outdone all predecessors. They may have caused the destruction of The Vaktovian Empire, if it weren’t for the people in this vessel at this time.”

Chapter IV
The Unknown

“Space is an unknown area in history. People come in and out of it, to be seen again or to never be heard from again. Some of those people can change the course of history.”

Emperor Delargivic walked onto the balcony of his palace to greet his cheering citizens of New Alexandria. He waved slowly across the beckoning crowd. I wore hooded robes in the back of the crowd, watching him look at the crowd, ready to make his royal speech. It has been five years since The Grand Imperium destroyed Vaktovia, bringing down The Vaktovian Empire. Since then, an underground rebellion was set up underneath the streets of New Alexandria, Capital of The Grand Imperium on Arcadia. Arcadia was mostly a swamp, it was nothing spectacular. The walls of New Alexandria were surrounded by the tall Conifer trees of the swamp. The streets of the city were lined with the citizens, completely crowded. The people buzzed with chatter about the appearance of their Emperor. I left the plaza of the Palace, slowly walking the streets past the citizens chattering. I had a pistol strapped to my waist under my robe, just in case I needed it. I was one of the many founders of The Resistance, The Vaktovian Empire’s last hope.

I walked the streets alone, empty or abounding with people. They didn’t notice either way. It was not uncommon for someone to be walking alone down the streets.
One particular journey down the streets stook out more than the rest. I was walking as I usually did, when I felt a presence behind me, not unlike that of before the Vaktovians took me to the Headquarters, moments before it was destroyed.

Whenever I turn around, the streets are unnaturally empty, as if a giant hand had swept away everyone that might have been on them, everyone aside from me.
This night started the same as that night. I walked alone down the empty street. I felt the same presence behind me. I slowly turned around. A baton made its way into the side of my face, rendering me unconscious.

A rush of air hit me, waking me up. I could hear the sound of voices, barely audible over the roar of a plane’s engines. I was on my back on the ground, head pointing towards an open door, thousands of feet above empty ground. I lay there, my eyes shut. I felt a sharp spike of pain in my side. I put my hand to it, feeling a warm liquid ooze through my fingers, onto the floor and covering my hand. The pain exploded through my side, my eyes still closed. I heard the voices get closer, though still barely audible over the roar of the engines.

“What shall we do with him?” I heard a distorted voice ask.

“What we do with the rest of them; throw them out,” A second distorted voice answered the first.

“And if he could somehow prove useful to us? He is one of the leaders of the Resistance on Arcadia.” the first voice asked.

“Orders are orders. We throw all prisoners out once we reach an altitude of 10,000 meters. We are at 9,000 right now. Just a few more moments and we toss him out to join the others.”

“Yes, sir.”

Within a minute, I felt myself sliding towards the open air, nothing I could do to stop it. My hands were bound to my sides and my feet tied together. I was strapped to some sort of gurney-type object, preventing me from kicking. As I felt my head enter the atmosphere, a high-pitched whistle zoomed past, slamming into the engine of the aircraft I was in with tremendous force, shattering it instantly. The ship shook and tipped to the side of the destroyed engine. As it tipped to the side, the contraption I was strapped to shook itself from the aircraft, catching itself on a strap at the last possible moment , suspending me in midair thousands of feet above the jagged ground below. I heard shouts coming from the aircraft as it made its descent, heading directly for a cliff side. A sawing sound was coming from the aircraft door. The contraption was jerking around. The strap holding me snapped as one of the crew aboard it sawed the strap with a combat knife, sending me to my death.

As I fell, the wind whistling through my ears, I heard a whistling coming towards me. A ship zoomed under me, catching me less than 50 feet from the Arcadian craft which had dropped me. As my rescue flew away, I heard the thundering explosion of the other aircraft hitting the cliff side, killing the crew instantly and leaving a crater in the sheer cliff.

I was immediately put into a capsule as they shuttled me down the long corridors. My mouth was gagged from my encounter with the Arcadians, preventing me from speaking. The capsule cut me loose from the contraption, incinerating it instantly. The gag was taken off and my hands and legs were freed.

My ‘saviors’ spoke outside the capsule tube I was in. They spoke in hushed voices, preventing me from understanding what they were saying. I could see nothing as to identify this ship as a Vaktovian Ship, worrying me. They turned to me several times during the conversation, curious looks on their faces at times, frightened looks the rest of the time.

The capsule opened as their conversation continued.

“... he is one of the best fighters of Vaktovia!” One of them finished.
They turned to look at me. I stood up slowly. One of them reached for the pistol at his waist, panicked. My eye caught the slight movement as his hand grasped the grip and pulled it a centimeter out of its holster. I then noticed all of them had made the same movements. Reacting to the situation at hand, I went to a crouch then slid to one of them, kicking out my leg into his knee, bringing him down instantly. The pistol he had taken barely out of the holster flew into the air. I jumped and caught it as the spot I had been was cascaded by bullets. I grabbed ahold of pipe running across the ceiling and took four shots, each of which found a target to bury itself into, killing each instantly.

I dropped to the ground, landing quietly. I moved forward, quickly and quietly. A guard’s footsteps were to my right, down a corridor. I heard the crackle of a radio transmitter from the guard. His footsteps stopped, then continued. As I heard them receding, I moved to take him out silently. I was right behind him when I heard a gun click behind my head.

“Move, I dare you.” An unknown person behind me said blatantly. “Put the gun on the ground. Now.”

I did so without hesitation, slowly bending over and putting the gun on the ground. I came up with my hands up.

“What do you want with me?” I asked without turning around.

He handcuffed me, putting my arms behind my back.

“An easier question to answer would be what I don’t want you for.” He said as he pushed me back down the way I came.

I found myself inside an interrogation room within the ship. One of my captors, who looked something like an officer, came into the room and slapped a file down on the table I was handcuffed to.

“Hello, Xaleyp. I am Ardus Kaine, Captain of this vessel. We are from the planet of Siatia. We are an organization who’s name and nature is not necessary information for you. All you need to know is that we rescued you from certain death by Arcadia and you repay us by killing five brave soldiers.

“We have captured you here today because we realize you can be a powerful asset of Siatia, and the possible needed link to our reestablishment of a superpower within the universe. As you may or may not know, we used to be among the most prestigious Empires. We were but a single planet, of which produced the highest quality soldiers who were sent off to the empires you know today as The Vaktovian Empire and The Grand Imperium, who are currently at war, as you certainly know. We are currently about to lend hundreds of fighters, as well as dozens of starships, to Arcadia, which we be able to squish any and all resistance from Vaktovia, an already severely weakened empire.

“All you have to do to keep this from happening is give yourself to Siatia for life, fighting to your fullest extent. Your missions will include fighting against Arcadia, as well ask Vaktovia, assassinating leaders of both sides to weaken them both. When morality among the two is completely gone, Siatia will move in and take them both over, successfully becoming the largest empire in history.

“We are currently producing many thousand weapons of mass destruction in the event that you decline the offer of a high ranking official among what will soon be the largest empire. If you decline, we will launch these weapons across the universe, wreaking disaster everywhere.

“If you accept, you will be welcomed into our ranks as if you had not even flicked a dust speck at those soldiers. You will receive the rank of General and will be among the most renowned in our history, should you succeed in your missions. Should you betray us, you will be hunted down and eliminated and our weapons will find their ways to destinations across the universe to be set off and destroy the influential planets of the universe, leaving the universe up for grabs, where we will move in and rip it from dueling warlords’ hands, establishing our dominance once more in the universe. This shall happen even if you decline. I will give you an hour to ponder your choices and I will return to receive your answer.”

As he left, he flipped an hourglass over. One hour.
If I accepted, I would be able to put my skills to the test, leading the armies of Siatia to the dominant force of the universe. I would be able to destroy Arcadia once and for all. But, with destroying Arcadia, I would have to destroy Vaktovia, something I could not even think of doing in my whole life, being surrounded by Vaktovian Soldiers who protected my homeplanet from birth to the destruction of Mornage. Mornage...

The giant skyscrapers flashed into my memory. Vehicles flew overhead as I walked down the street. Pedestrians walked, almost aimlessly, down the street. The Vaktovian Headquarters established with The Vaktovian Takeover loomed menacingly over most buildings. It could be seen from almost any point in the city. My parents...

I snapped back to reality. The hourglass sand continued to go down, now about a quarter gone.

I pondered the results of my declination of the offer. These weapons have not been picked up by spies. They are unknown to the universe, excluding Siatia. If they truly have them, this could mean disaster for the universe, even if I accept this offer. There is also the chance that they do not exist and are using the possibility of their existing to make me accept the offer to lead them to domination of the universe.

Half an hour gone already.

I continued to ponder the choices. If I did accept, I would be subjected to missions which would help bring the downfall of the powerful Grand Imperium. However, I would also be subjected to missions which would also finish bringing down the once powerful Vaktovian Empire.

Fifteen minutes left.

If I declined, I would be putting the entire universe at risk of mass destruction. But, who’s to say the actual plan of Siatia’s leadership isn’t to plunge the universe into chaos anyway? With the fall of the two most powerful empires in history, a power vacuum would surely occur. Squabbling warlords within the universe would fight for power, leaving Siatia open to take over with my abilities. But, if they don’t take the opportunity to take over, the universe would be left divided for centuries.

The door opened.

“Time’s up. Do I have an answer, or do I assume you decline and kill you now?”
My brain’s activity increased tenfold. Thoughts shot from one side of my head to the other, thousands at a time. I thought about every scenario would could occur from both answers, from the worst case, to the best. I opened my mouth to speak.
“Yes.”
“Glad to hear it. I shall send for your custom-tailored General Uniform as well as medals for past distinctions. You will not regret this. You have just joined the soon to be greatest empire in history. In the meantime, I shall lead you to your quarter’s aboard the ship until we reach Siatia.”

He released me from the handcuffs and led me down a corridor to a room. He punched in the code 3752 and the door opened. The room was nothing special, designed for short-term stay. There was a sink, a stove, a bed, a desk and chair, and an armoire. Everything was kept neat and organized within the room.
“I’ll leave you here. Make yourself comfortable.” He said as he left me alone.
I pulled the chair from the desk and sat down at it and began to strategize the ways of taking over the universe. I could easily lead the strongest section of the Siatia army in a rebellion against Siatia and take over the universe myself. Or I could be loyal to Siatia and lead them to domination of the universe. Thousands of different plans bounced around my head, none of which took my interest.

I eventually decided that I would be loyal to Siatia until we grasped control. From there, who knows what might happen.

Chapter V
The Cataclysm

“Warring Empires are weaker than Alliances.”

Emperor Delargivic looked out of his royal bedroom window, watching the lights of cars in the capital of New Alexandria, a mile away, thousands of feet below him. His palace was built into the side of a mountain, giving it a clear view of the capitol. The location made it practically impossible to breach. The mountain’s inside was reinforced with a titanium alloy that was virtually impenetrable. All the glass of the palace was bullet-resistant, preventing normal bullets from going through the glass, protecting the Emperor from an assassination from the city below.

Story Content is like 7.41988734/10.

You explain the same things too much and it's predictable. I haven't actually read all of it but from what I see, you're not really putting much power into your words.
