And you get married and have nothing but all girls. You can take it to the grave knowing that you were at fault for ending your family lineage. |

| Why do we care about family lineage anymore? It was the main reason why parents wanted sons in the past, but whats the use of it anymore? |

| I don't really care about family name that much. If next generation is really interested in the family tree look it up online. |

| I feel like getting married makes it more complicated to split up so that either limits the chances of that happening, or it gives you time to fix whatever's wrong |

| I think it's more of a way of them showing that their relationship doesn't need to be confirmed by a piece of paper and a chunk of high-pressurized carbon on a metal ring. It's actually quite nice, at least in my opinion. |

| My brother and I are the only two boys out of 6 cousins. I actually care about continuing my family lineage if anyone cares for my two cents worth. |

@Cdawg
It doesn't matter because the lineage is still going to end because there's no one to take on their name after they die |

the hell you mean no one is there to take on your name
just becuase you get married doesnt mean you take on your fathers name one of my friends has the same name as his mom and not his dad (who was never there honestly but thats aside the point) The expectation of the Classical-European based standard of what a expected family is has been out the window since the 40's in America. Traditional family ideals are BS, and whining that your last name is continued on cause you have daughters is stupid and borderline misogynistic at that.
Would I be disappointed if my last name wasn't carried on? Probably but I get over it as long as my daughters were decent human beings and they always know that I was there, cause geuss what if you make a big enough impact in their lives they won't let you name "die out". |

No, that IS the point He doesn't have his dad's name because his dad wasn't there If his dad was there he would have his dad's last name |
