I feel like you'd get that nice, country, southern feel to it, but also a little bit of metropolitan as well with Atlanta.
I'd say the same about Texas, but I feel like there's too many people there. |

Here's a rough general idea of where rural areas in Texas are:

Personally, I'd live in the countries in Central Texas or South Texas, but that's me |

@Rune Only prob with San Marcos now is growing crime, but I mean, that's pretty much the majority of Austin except for the rich ass people that live on the lakes in the west part of the metro sooo
San Marcos' water is god-awful though. Tastes horri-bad.
I like Texas State and all but San Marcos is a bit shaky for me personally.
I don't even think iSS would like it tbh |

Holy crap, San Marcos is practically dead center between Austin and San Antonio lmao.
That Canyon Lake does interest me though. |

@iSS From someone that basically travels the Austin-San Antonio corridor twice or three times a year and I JUST ACTUALLY WENT TO CANYON LAKE RECENTLY for my mom's friend's wedding, San Marcos is a pretty polluted, crime-growing, however nice small college town with a river and all. Good parks.
Canyon Lake...I don't know how to put it. It's very hilly, that's a start, the lake is pretty nice, and there's a lot of cabins to live in. Quite rural actually for it's close proximity to San Marcos, New Braunfels, and the greater Austin-San Antonio area. |

| I've just been looking through Texas on google maps, and I found Huntsville, which looks nice geographically, but what is it like there? |

Personally I'm a big fan of Marble Falls in the Hill Country (Greater Central Texas) and Alice or Falfurrias for South Texas. Only problem with Falfurrias is that it's right next to the US Dept of Homeland Security and the town's population is HEAVILY Hispanic.
Alice is nice though, Whataburger, Subway, Walmart, H-E-B, a little mall, just like I like it. It's about halfway from San Antonio to McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley, maybe a bit closer to the RGV.
Marble Falls is right on a river and Lake Marble Falls and is on a hill. Small beautiful community northwest of Austin. |

Oh yeah.
I typed in "huntsville texas", and the second suggestion was its prison.
Nevermind. |

Kinda weird how I don't wanna live by a prison when I'm going to most likely be a police officer, but whatever.
Anyways, these are kinda the important things I'm looking for in a town.
1. Low cost of living 2. Quiet 3. Low crime rates 4. Nice community 5. Southern 6. Good food :)
Seems rare to find these places, but who knows? |

"1. Low cost of living" Alice probably
"2. Quiet" Marble Falls or Alice
"3. Low crime rates" Marble Falls or Alice
"4. Nice community" Marble Falls more probably
"5. Southern" eehhhh neither really match "Southern", Alice is Tex-Mex, Marble Falls is like hilly American
"6. Good food :)" The Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls is seriously the best Southern/TEXAN (not Tex-Mex) authentic restaurant in the state of Texas. |

All of these match the suburban community north of Austin I live in right now except #3 and #5 |
