The /e commands are awesome (if you don't know what they are, see bottom), but the current implementation is very cumbersome to use. It takes shorter time to type, "lol," than to type, "/e laugh."
So here's my suggestion: when you press the ~ key in the top left of your keyboard (or any unused key) it opens a GUI on the top of your screen listing the /e commands and lets you choose one with the number keys (push ~ again to cancel). The ~ key is right next to the number keys, so you could do an action very quickly. What do you think?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT THE /E COMMANDS ARE: The /e commands are a new addition to ROBLOX that let your character do custom actions. Current commands (chat them) are: /e laugh /e cheer /e dance /e wave |

I love the e/ commands, but I'm not sure about the use. It may get in the way, or glitch out. For a while I think it should stay as it is.

| When I say GUI I mean a little bar that scrolls out to show the commands. And it would timeout after about five seconds maybe? |

| I've heard that ~ is a used key in some eastern-European keyboards. |

I mean a key that most scripts wouldn't use.
For example, the e key is used in some driving games to turn on an engine. |

The emotions are at a really beta stage right now (hence why they weren't even publicly announced) and are part of the upcoming animation update Their animations are probably nowhere near finished, animations are still being worked on so they don't break and/or conflict with specific gear and places So you should probably expect a GUI to come up sooner or later |

There are also some games that use nearly every single character on the keyboard.
Here's an example: http://www.roblox.com/Ultimate-Power-place?id=35851109 Let's see all the stuff that game uses: QERTYUI[]ASDFGHJKL;ZXCVBNM And I've even heard plans for ', #, \ and /.
And O, P, comma, and . are already used in roblox's core engine. |

| They could add them to the safechat menu? |

Why not just have the GUI, Batista's idea, and the /e commands?
Different ways for different preferences. |

Well, We'll need to find a place to put the GUI, But all in all, I'd support that, Chaos. |

| Maybe you could enable it and disable it in the in-game menu? (ESC key menu) |

I'll add that to the list as well.
So, currently, we have this idea: Emotion commands (I have to be politically correct) can be used via chat, And will also appear in the safe chat menu. They are also useable via a GUI, that can be toggled on and off in the game's menu.
Still didn't answer where the GUI'll appear... Just under the normal chat I'd say. |

| Well, you could disable and enable the GUI in the menu. And when you enable it, a button appears as a GUI that you can click to make a list of the emotions slide out where you can click one. |

| I thought the GUI could appear over the top of your screen, with a row of numbered buttons like the gear bar. |

| The top of the screen is commonly used as some kind of menu. |

I can agree to that.
...This is how a thread on S&I should go. Really rare these days that it actually happens like this though. :/

I'd personally prefer it to be the \ key, but okay. |

| The \ key works as well, I chose the ~ key because it is close to the number keys (for convenience). |
