Also, Steam OS uses GNOME 3!

Better than Unity I guess.

I'm not sure why you would use it.
It doesn't give you any of the benefits of console gaming.

The reason people like console gaming is because:
1. Consoles require practically no setup.
2. You can store all your games on the shelf as a collection.
3. It's easy to bring to friend's houses and play.
4. It's easy to trade games.
5. You're guaranteed that everything will work or your money back.

What does Steam OS give you?

1. It's even harder to setup than a PC with Steam installed because you have to install Steam OS on it yourself.
2. It's still Steam. All the games are virtual and no physical disks.
3. Steam OS is just Steam on a big computer. Why bring your whole PC to your friend's house? Just log into your Steam account in their house.
4. I heard Steam is implementing a trade feature, but that still is not quite the same.
5. If you fail to install Steam OS on your PC and end up messing up all your partitions, the creators of Steam aren't liable. You're on your own.

It provides no benefits over the PC version, and actually makes it more difficult.

Plus, this is based on Linux. The Linux library on Steam is less than a tenth of that of the Windows library.

People who are using Windows will be extremely disappointed.

@thedoctor

If you're on Linux, you chould install Steam and theoretically get the same thing.

Yeah, but even though I do prefer Linux over Windows, it still holds true that Steam for Windows has a massively more diverse gaming library than Steam for Linux.

They advertise it as "Everything you love about Steam." But most all Windows users are going to be heavily disappointed that it is, indeed, NOT everything they love about Steam, but only a small portion of it.

@ranger

They just ripped Debian's repositories and made their "own" OS out of it.

I find the client to be buggy all the time.
