It's no secret - over the past 2 or 3 years, while other clans have progressed significantly in the area of technology and development, UAF has not. Over these years, we lacked the developers that other clans had, causing us to revert back to old bases like Kopervich and Sapphire - which, for a time, was acceptable to most members. But the bases are becoming dull, and Sapphire's ancient regen buttons are becoming irritating.
Since the moment False became Commander, UAF has almost universally taken the initiative to change. In order to catch up with the rest of the clan world, UAF has called for a new base - an up-to-date, aesthetically pleasing, and functional base - one with a certain "UAF style".
But UAF's commitment to rapid technological advancement, in some ways, backfired. The director of the newly revived Phoenix Technologies had business to take care of - and took a brief hiatus. In this time, PT was vulnerable, and high ranks as well as low ranks were anxious for a better base. As a result, some developers sought to create their own vision of "the perfect base" in the director's planned absence.
Upon returning, the director realized that there were two separate bases being made by two separate developers - this *developmental disunity* would have the potential to divide UAF. Both wanted their base to be used over the other - but to the director, neither one of them seemed to appeal to UAF's need for progress. "Fort Kopervich II" and "Fort Sapphire II" would appear to be rehashed versions of the old - and though many nostalgic members liked it, many UAF felt it was time to move on from those old traditions.
This is no mere squabble over a base. The ramifications of choosing progress over nostalgia impacts the entire clan in more ways than one. UAF has a decision to make - either to reject many of our old traditions in favor of new ones or to use the "glory days of the past" as a guide to the present. And when this decision is made, it will forever change the way UAF is viewed, what kind of members are attracted to it, our place in the clan world, our technological prowess, and future UAF policy.
And to those who propose a "third option", or, the reconciliation of old and new values, I say this: that's hardly at all possible, because at this point in time, UAF lacks a well-defined and unique "style". Our "old" values never really were that developed to begin with, if at all. We're going through an identity crisis, if you will. The idea of a "People's Clan" is all we have left. I've defended the necessity of keeping this "People's Clan" intact, however, now I realize that what I was defending was something that would most likely never change anyway - a sense of respect to the opinions of the "People" doesn't simply die out if we stop plastering it all over Kopervich. We can't let that stop us from progressing further in the grand scheme of things. I will concede that some of us do not share this sentiment about "respect for the People", but to those that do, we can't allow the stereotypes associated with "the old UAF" restrict us from progressing further. We have to take a fresh approach that hopefully will help UAF resolve its identity crisis. That's why we started Project Vox.
Phoenix Technologies will endeavor to direct all of its attention to the creation of a new base, which it has already begun developing. We need to move on from Sapphire and Kopervich, and take our first major step towards positive change. Thank you for reading, UAF, and have a nice day.

| I highly doubt a small debate over a couple of bases is truly an identity crisis. |

I've noticed there are some people in the UAF (specifically Acestrum and those similar) that are intent on halting progress and originality - what made UAF, UAF - for that which looks "cool" and has "swag".
They're steering UAF on a course down the dark path beset upon by many other superclans - generic, dull, irritable.
I do not want to be a part of a clan that lets Acestrum and people like Acestrum decide our wars and diplomacy. I want to be a part of the People's Clan and partake in exporting the Revolution to all others. I want what we had in 2011 - unrivaled prestige, activity, originality all built around an idea nobody smeared.
The inefficiency in the officer corps must be removed. |

same with Tenal - insta-promotions aren't cool no matter who *used* to be in the clan. We need to quit playing favorites and return to the policies that made us great - a clan made by the People, for the People.
Quit buying into these social cliques that the upper heirarchy tries to play. Start some serious effort. |

Mikalios is not referring to bases alone, it's the subject and means of conveying a broader message.
How we treat members compared to high ranks, how much we focus on not "hurting their feelings" or being "politically correct", how much we've strayed from the values of an active Revolution that brought us to our pinnacle under benblue9 |

| Tell that to yourselves. You guys idolize Benblue9 to the point where you literally want a new era to be spot on to his. If you're going to look back, at least look back at someone who was good (sellethore). |

| It's not idolization so much as looking at what was the most original and profound - Sellethore may have been cool and effective but he didn't lead UAF into the power climax of the Red Army theme. |

| i agree with that we will never put down the ideology of freely expressing your opinion, to appeal to what you think is wrong, it's just all common sense, the constitution was just the wrong way to go, people have told me it's fun to use the constitution to annoy HRs before |

Eh, it's come to a point where most people have come from shadowsword's era or early MOOJL's era.
BB9's nostalgia has degraded to the point where only a hand few care. |

@paddy Excuse me? Probably because "Red Army" wasn't what UAF was EVER meant to be. PERIOD. I'm not arguing with you on that. |

| UAF's success under Benblue9 was because everyone loved bb9, that's about it. He had terrible internal structure. |

Destroy our image and rebuild it anew. [2]
Also, can someone explain what Infinitive wanted UAF to be?
Because recently, the only answer I've gotten is "it's kind of hard to explain" |

No, technology is not the image of UAF.
I have returned to this clan already to find elements that I staunchly disagree with.
You should be focusing on what matters, the clan's activity and the clan's ability itself. Technology is not vital, you can live off of low grade technology and still be a good clan with a good image. Therefore I will ask you all to consider the use of a base that seems the best in regards to a raid system and fun:

@lucara More like, hard to explain to people who are so caught up with the "people's clan" "4 da mudderland" thought processes. |
