I know this is old news to some.
I think Cloud gaming will really take off when this becomes more popular. I personally don't like the idea of not having a tangible game, whether it be a digital download, or a physical disc, but if this means that games can significantly become cheaper to play, and better yet, if older games can easily be uploaded to a cloud based service for play, I think Cloud gaming really has potential. |

cloud gaming won't catch on because not enough people have the internet connection to support it

i don't know why you're whining so much because in europe you're able to get really good internet for really cheap
so honestly considering in romania and sweden you can get like 100 mbps for like 13 bucks a month i think you eager beavers can wait a bit
after they get all of US and CA, they should do it in africa and asia, parts of the world that are poor

even in my own home i perfer to have stuff physically conencted
in gaming, i would like to remove latency as much as i can. this would include things like having a super low response time G-Sync monitor, optimal keyboard and mouse setup and low ping

50Mbps is enough
Let's say that you're downloading a 25GB game, it will take 1 hour and 20 minutes if it has a 45Mbps average (5.6 MB/s)
A 100Mbps connection with a 90Mbps average would take 40 minutes to download it
On the other hand, I'm left-handed. |

but since i'm a venezuelan guy that downloads games, a 25GB game will take 60 hours if i'm lucky (10Mbps connection will take 7:30 and a 2Mbps connection will take around 40)
On the other hand, I'm left-handed. |

| Except Google Fiber is only going to be deployed in about 10 cities. It's mostly to inspire competition between cable companies because internet is basically monopolized as of now. |

Okay...and that's why I said "cloud gaming will really take off when this becomes popular", because currently cloud gaming is slow, but with Google Fiber, it's speed will improve monumentally. |

the thing is, in america they now also have caps on internet requirements at home, and comcast, for example is pretty much the only option in north america.
in america you have to pay a crap ton to get bad internet with caps.
however, in the Netherlands, i have unlimited and i get 48 mb/s for nothing really, compared to where i used to live in america. |

@simonspeed
Yeah...though Comcast is being rivaled by Century Link, which, at least with the service I have, provides internet that is 2x the speed of what Comcast offered, and without the ANNOYING outages.
I think the reason internet is so cheap in Europe is because everything isn't so spread out like it is in America, and of course, there are not any screwy policies like there are here.
I imagine that the internet must have a pretty low amount of latency there as well, since things are not as spread out. |

@shov
yeah, my ping on games is always 5-15 with the exception of Dayz SA
i had comcast in america, and it was downright horrendous, but the consumer knows nothing else, so they are screwed. |

| I get unlimited internet with BT but my speed is around 6.3mbps with ping of around 60ms, which I consider terrible. |

| Because of Google Fiber, America may finally have a decent internet infrastructure. Our current infrastructure is extremely outdated and unstable, and we can all thank AT&T for that. |
