I want to detect pressing down of the "/" key for use with a custom chat gui. I have disabled the regular chat using setCoreGuiEnabled("Chat",false) and have registered for the KeyDown event on the mouse. I am using inputKey:byte() == 47 (--"/" key) to check for the slash, but the KeyDown event is not fired with this key is pushed.
How do other games receive this key? |

"/" is reserved, I don't think it's possible to use.

The new Custom Chat Gui in Apocalypse Rising uses the "/" to trigger typing into the chat box. Have you look, if you will. Either they gave them special developer access, they found a hack, or there's just a different way to do it.

Oh I haven't gone to Apocalypse Rising in a while, my bad. I could never get "/" to work in-game though, just in test mode.

There must be a way to do it... but the event doesn't even fire when the key is pushed.

You can detect it if you use the "KeyUp" event, but there will be a very small delay.
