They both suck. I think the only product I own that has something Microsoft on it is an old laptop I loaded with Windows 8 to run bots I created in JScript .NET.
But now I've switched to making my bots in PhantomJS and I don't even need Windows anymore.
Microsoft makes no products I need, and all Apple's products are virtually worthless to me. They require you to own iTunes and iTunes doesn't exist for Linux.
Plus, they're heavily restricted. I'm a programmer. Restricting my device is the best way to piss me off.

Why would I do that when I can get a tablet/phone that's twice as powerful for half the price and comes without restrictions on it? |

Because I love apple and of course I'd recommend it :)
I really have no use for the stuff you're talking about and all of my apps work great but it's nice that you like other stuff |

Um, no? I've made a bootloader before for x86 processors but it was pretty basic and just let you click through a menu and type some stuff.
I want full access on my devices because I want to be able to do things on them. Such as, I have a Chromebook, and it's originally pretty restricted for security reasons. However, you can easily disable all the security settings by booting in Developer Mode and it even gives you free tools to develop with. I've actually ported tons of things, like Nodejs, Lua, Python, Ruby, Java, TiLP, a z80 assembler, nano, vim, and much more (I've also gotten PhantomJS to work, but by using someone else's port to Raspberry Pi).
I think all devices that are restrictive should be like this. You can easily turn the restriction off and do whatever you want.
When I first got my Chromebook, I would use Ubuntu a lot on it. Now, I've ported every single program to Chrome OS that I would ever hope to use and I no longer need to boot in Ubuntu anymore. I can enjoy the full Chrome OS experience along with all the software that it previously didn't have.
This is why I like devices not being restrictive. If Chromebooks didn't let me disable the security settings, I would probably have bought another laptop.
A device like iPhones or iPads that don't let you remove restrictions without jailbreaking it is, in my opinion, an infringement on my buyer's rights. I bought the product. I deserve to have full access to it.
