you know something has gone seriously wrong with electronic dance music
go listen to the beatport top 10. chances are it's bigroom house. as in, sounds like this: http://youtu.be/4qC9KwujVtQ (skip to the 2:00 mark to see exactly what i mean)
"I can't even listen to it anymore. Like, it will make me fear for the future of humanity if I listen to that top 10 these days." -wolfgang gartner
pretty much every house song has moved onto that now
trance i don't even know anymore
hardstyle/hard dance (what the hell is the difference) is becoming the same melody over the same BONG BONG BONG BONG BONG BONG
trap is awful and you should strangle yourself for liking iy
drum & bass is actually doing alright despite pretty much everyone becoming sellouts, it's the second freshest genre
glitch hop is either pegboard nerds, or "hey guys we can make a dull beat and miss the point of why you would make a song glitchy"
all that's left is dubstep
dubstep actually evolves a ton. it originally went from http://youtu.be/D6pTSGvp7T8 to http://youtu.be/aNFllpLfQ6o, then in only a year to http://youtu.be/VFZREifFcEs, then the next year to http://youtu.be/Js4FeGJ2IUM, then next year having all of these coexisting. look at the beatport dubstep top 10, you have seven lions (trance-ish chill), skrillex, dirtyphonics (slightly dirty, not overwhelmingly heavy), datsik (slower, heavier, filthier), and rameses b (minimalistic chill). it has its completely own style and isn't afraid of innovating.
you've got seven lions, who makes 5-6 minute songs that progressively build up to a really clean drop, or au5, who does the same progressive clean style until the drop which is heavy and filthy. you've got excision, who is currently making the dark and heavy songs that are easy to dance to, and then a bunch of terrible filth artists out there who make a nonstop 6 minutes of blasting your ears with robot noises. you've got zomboy, who has taken over skrillex's job, and then you have pegboard nerds, whose music is incredible for dancing to. and then there is bassnectar, the ultimate wildcard of everything who makes whatever the hell he pleases. the dubstep community may suck (half are elitist, half are completely clueless skrillex fans), but the music is great as far as electronic music goes.
seriously electronic music, when the most polarizing and most hated genre is beating you guys at making good music, you seriously need to step your game up. |

| I actually have no clue as to why Skrillex is the most popular in the industry, he's actually terrible. Zomboy's amazing but his songs are becoming too repetitive. |

Zomboy is literally a Skrillex clone
I mean you eedeem fanboys really need to expand your horizons. or at least get into the deeper side of dubstep |

| I've tried it all, electronic just doesn't appeal to me. That's just my opinion. And no, I haven't just "Scratched the surface" and I'm not "Close-minded", that's just what I think. If you think Zomboy's a Skrillex clone, good for you. There's a ton of little differences that I believe set them apart well enough. |

I'm not a brostep fan at all and I'm not defending the genre lol. If you don't like electronic musik then I'm not going to persuade you I'm just saying that if you look a little harder you might find something you like but it appears you might have already done that so big ups
and are you a zomboy fan or something lol? I'm pretty sure he stole the fabled Italian laptop |

"At least Overrwatcher is over the whole brostep thing"
halfway. i still have almost every excision song ever in my library, but some of the stuff i used to like, i now can't stand (downlink and liquid stranger comes to mind). i'm just looking for those unique or well-produced songs now.
"And I could look harder, I'm just not a big music guy."
then you have absolutely no authority in the discussion
why are you even trying |

There is still good house made today, but not nearly as much as the late 90's, say.

| the thing is that most people my age at my school don't realize there is even dance music besides like dance pop on top 40, unless they go to clubs or are into music, so even generic things in a genre are okay with me as long as people don't overhype it too much |
