It was 0 degrees (F) this morning with a -24 windchill. We still had to go to school. I don't care that I had to go to school, because my dad drives me everyday, but I was worried about the people waiting for the bus because their parents aren't able to drive them with a lovely, heated car. I walked outside and about less than a minute later, my lips cracked open and began to bleed, the wind was so cold it was like daggers flying into your face. Imagine what it would be like for the people waiting only 5 minutes for the bus?
Another thing, this is record-breaking weather since 1988, and that was 8 degrees. The people in my area are not adapted to living in weather like this, as it would take about 3 weeks to do so, and it heats up before that in the first place. So, that made matters worse.
TL;DR: It was so cold, it hurt when the wind picked up. My county was 1 of 3 states that didn't close, when all 3 of these counties should have closed, or at least had a delay. I live in an area not accustomed to such cold weather so we are like Californians in Wisconsin. (Not literally, because I'm not from California). |

I have a friend that lives in Virginia, I live up in Maryland so it's about the same weather, minor elevation differences, which doesn't help the matter. |

@frost
In my area of northern VA, we live east of the mountains which the Chesapeake bay and ocean kinda moderate the climate. Every time there's a New England snowstorm, we only get the little parts of it. |

I live in Maryland, we aren't used to cold weather unlike you guys up there
@frosteagle
I don't live near the coast, I live in an elevated area that rarely gets an abundance of humidity from the ocean |
