Okay, I have to ask, how are hats ruined? I the field of making profit, I understand, when something goes limited then its value can rise or drop; making it unobtainable for some players or meaning those that bought it before it went limited got a bad deal.
But what about when an old hat just goes back on sale? Like the antlers a while ago? How is the hat "ruined"? The item is still the same, just more people got the chance to own it...
Is the community really that self absorbed to complain when an off-sale hat they own goes back on sale simply because they are no longer the only one? Is everyone really that self absorbed or is there something I'm missing here....? |

| Well, yes the rarity may not be as high, but is that bad? As in really? More people own it, so what? The item itself is no different, don't people just like the item because of the way it looks rather than how many people own it? |

We get mad because what was the point of joining early then?
Cool, I just got an 08 item! Cool it's offsale! Wait, wtf, a player from 2013 got it now too?
You see, what did we earn for being a long time member of Roblox?
Nothing. |

| They mean ruining the value, it was a really rare hat, say 50 sales, now it has 10000 sales, you get my point. |

Thats like me asking what did I earn from playing, for example, Skyrim or Battlefield, the past few years rather than starting a week or two ago. What I got out of those was fun times, high level accounts, friends but at the end of the day nothing unobtainable to everyone else.
Does a game really need to reward people for playing it? People should enjoy playing it enough to just play it.
The only way I can see this is just so people can say "I have this and you don't" if users don't like it when it goes on sale. It just seems like some kind of childish ego boost more than anything. |

And to clear this up, I understand the concept of value. I briefly covered this at the start, I'm sure you don't need me to go over it.
I'm talking about when an item just goes back on sale. And thats it. Not limited, not cheaper, just back on sale. The people that already own it are not loosing out in any way. |

Sure I get memories. I also have memories of getting a rare item. It's not rare now. |

| What I'm asking is, why does it need to be rare? Is it purely just the idea of "look I have this and you don't"? The whole being above other people? Its an item, no different to when it was off-sale, only more people now own it. |

Yes, exactly.
Let's say you get a "limited edition golden holy phone" in real life. They make 500. Now, you got one because you were early to the spot in line to get one. After seeing the demand for this new "Limited edition golden holy phone", they release it again, except this time they release 50,000.
How would you feel? Would you be happy? No, you wouldn't. |

| It wouldn't bother me, the item has not changed, its the exact same as before its just more mainstream. If this is how people classify ruining items, they just loose the sense of superiority, then I really wouldn't class the item as ruined. In my opinion they just take it as a knock to their ego because they are now not somehow above everyone else. |

And? Same can be applied for any other game. Why shouldn't I want to better than someone else? Is that bad? No, of course not. That is real life. People with power and wealth are definitely higher in "rank" that poor homeless people.
Why would I NOT want to be that person with a higher rank? I can do that in any shooter game too, or a strategy game, or an RPG. With "leaderboards" or "MLG." The only difference is that this is an appearance instead. |

How about this Metro?
You get an autograph by someone you really like, the only autograph by them ever. Their autograph is worth $1,000,000. A few months later you see that they now autograph everything. Their autograph is now worth $20.
You're saying you wouldn't be mad? At all? You're full of lies. |

I was about to make a post about this, but someone beat me to it so I'ma throw in my two cents...
A hat cannot be ruined. If you're here just to show off a rare hat that no one cares about, leave. The point of roblox is to have fun, build, and make friends. Not be a jerk when someone newer, and most likely younger, gets a hold of a item that they really like. That's not the point of Roblox.
No one cares if you have antlers. No one cares if you have high RAP.
I, my self, by the item/trade depending on the look, not RAP or value. |

| And Yali, no, I wouldn't. You just said that EVERYBODY has these same shoes. I would know about that. Why would I get mad if I knew EVERYONE gets these same pair of shoes? Sure, I might love them, but since everyone has them I can just easily obtain it. That's totally different. |

I'm not saying all people are equal, or even should be equal. But in a game, where the item just looks different and has no real effect, that seriously still applies to you? I can understand wanting to be the best builder or player, it becomes a competition, but owning a rare item? Again I understand things like collecting, but in a video game getting worked up about an item going back on sale just because they are no longer better than everyone else....that seems somewhat childish, at the very least, detached from reality, too detached for a game. |
