In Japan, what I read is American books in Japanese. Very entertaining.
I've read manga before. It's weird and I don't get it. Also anime/manga becomes the stereotype of Japan

Are those American books well known over there?
I agree. It's kind of a shame to be honest.
No one actually focuses on Japan's culture other than anime and manga.
