There are several different accents in the US, especially on the East Coast.
It's hard to pinpoint exactly how many there are, but there are quite a lot. |

| You don't notice your accent because most of the people you know talk that way including you, so other people with different accents sound strange. For example, if your are not indian, but you hear an indian accent, it sounds strange, to them, you sound strange, same goes for every ethnicity. |
