(PROLOGUE)
3221 GST. Nafaria, capitol city Ven'Ziel. One year before the invasion of Riforia and the Auchyut event.
The streets of Ven'Ziel city was anything but quiet, the streets were lit bright, red and white lights shone through the windows of the buildings that lined the streets. The streets themselves were crowded, and the crowds crowded around one specific building at the end of the street. This big, grand building had collums lining it's front wall, and it was easily the tallest building for miles. The collums themselves were clear, immaculately clear and were constantly cleaned, they were filled with rouguetonium, a valuable element mined on Nafaria that had an infinite ammount of uses. It powered everything from lights to military equipment for the war hungry Nafarians that lived on the planet. Large Nafarian warships surrounded the building, indicating that many important figureheads were convening within the palace.
Through the crowds of Nafarians, one figure stood out. She walked through the crowd, ignoring their shouts with a hood hung over her head, obscuring her face. Bits of jet black hair stuck out from underneath the hood, and lay on top of her bright red armor. She stuck out much like a human would in this crowd, her bright red armor contrasting with the usually dull red and grey clothing of the Nafarian populace around her. Her armor itself glowed in certain spots as well, indicating that it was on and functioning.
She walked briskly, eyes forward, resting solely on the grand building before her, she was late, and the meeting had already started, not that she was ever officially included in these meetings herself. She bumped right into a stander-bye as she rushed through the ever thickening crowd, he turned in shock and was about to yell, until he noticed the insignia branded on her armor, which demanded high respect from anyone who knew what it meant.
"HEY-" He began to yell, she turned her head and stopped for a moment as if daring him to go on. His eyes quickly fell on the insignia, and he quickly sputtered apologies.
"Sorry ma'am, it was my bad, surely" He managed out as he stepped away from her. She nodded arrogantly, and continued her brisk walk, now pushing through the crowd, no one daring to complain. She quickly reached the front steps leading to the palace, her head down, hood still obscuring her face. Two armored Nafarian soldiers barred her way, large guns dropped to block her path.
"Halt" One of them said, "An important High Council meeting is being held and all regular military access is being denied... unless of course you are a council member."
"would you really deny access to me of all people?" She replied raising her head, and removing the hood, revealing a narrow face with sharp red eyes, and a viscous smile, dark circles lined the underside of her eyes, indicating a lack of sleep the night before.
The soldier began to stutter, now seeing her face, he began to fumble with his weapon. "No ma'am of-of course not, any daughter of Kenzmon is alow-allowed in here, especially you, Krypka Ras'Vael" He desperately urged his partner to raise his weapon, which he reluctantly did.
Krypka smirked and laughed arrogantly as she walked up the steps, she turned around slightly, and looked into the crowd before her. "war! war! war!" They chanted, almost in unison. She then continued her brisk walk into the large palace doors before her. Inside the palace itself, lay a grand entrance hall, a blood red carpet lay through the center, leading all the way to a elevator door at the very end of the room, columns lined the walls, each streaming rouguetonium through them much like the ones outside, on the walls, there were many banners that displayed the symbol of the nation. The room was currently heavily guarded with rows of honor guards on either side of the walls, which stretched high above her and up into a vaulted ceiling, a thin sliver of red light shone through the top, most likely powered by rouguetonium as well. She looked to her sides, warily as she walked down the aisle, as she hated being watched. She quickly made her way to the end of the great hall, and to a elevator which lay at the end of the hall. A holopad jumped up to waste height as she approached, glowing red as it powered on. She quickly typed a few codes into the pad and the door subsequently opened in front of her. The small box that resembled the elevator was lined with rouguetonium, lighting the box and giving a flowing effect to the lights. Krypka stepped inside quickly as the door shut behind her, another holopad flickered to life at the left side of the box. Krypka quickly tapped a few codes which would lead to the fifth floor, the council chambers. She took a deep breath and pulled a stack of papers out from beneath the creases in her armor. The elevator soon jolted to a halt at it's destination.
Krypka stepped out into the vast room that was the council chambers, the room was much brighter than the dull confines of the elevator and she winced slightly so that her eyes would adjust. Trails of rouguetonium went up the black walls, and up black columns that surrounded the room in a circular formation. There was a high podium up in front of her which held the Emperor himself and the other high Marshals that made up the Nafarian military, they all sat in a small semicircle. They all looked quite young but this was not the case, as Nafarians caried near immortality, and they almost never die of natural circumstances, and instead, throw their lives away in battle. Krypka currently stood on an upraised viewer's podium with some seventy other lower ranking and Low Council Nafarians, they all watched in wonder as the high council, the gauntlet of power of the nation debated.
"Nay! A war with another human power at this stage would be disastrous, the IU is already prepped for war, and we are not prepared for a fight against the bulk of humanity and their allies!" A voice boomed, belonging to a well dressed high rank that sat close to Emperor Ven'Ziel himself.
"That was many years ago, Tartarus, those who stood against us in the IU then would be old now, and their children will have taken over, they are not Nafarian, they grow old faster than we do." Stated an obviously lower ranked Nafarian who sat towards the end of the gathering.
Krypka sunk into the shadows in a corner of the room, her arms crossed, and the papers in one hand. She watched these proceedings go often as a child, and knew never to interrupt the council while in mid-debate.
"Yes, but their children may have inherited their hate, and may decide to strike it out on us, we still carry many scars from the failed IU invasion those years ago, and are not at the strength we were in the age of greater peace!" Tartarus snapped back.
Krypka quickly eyed her father who stood right next to Ven'Ziel, he was his right hand man, alongside Tartarus, and she knew he would quickly enter the dispute. She was proven correct as he stepped forward, his deep voice booming in the big council chamber.
"Tartarus, you forget that they lost this invasion, and failed to breach our outer rim, besides the task force that slipped through into Nafaria itself for a good two years, but this is besides the point. The point is, strong Nafarian technology and courage fended off the IU, and when all was said and done, we only lost fifty seven percent of our entire fleet, compared to the seventy five percent of theirs, if they dared attack us again, would they fair much better?"
A deep voice chuckled beneath his breath next to Krypka, she turned her head, startled as she did not previously see him standing there, he was tall, and his uniform was neatly pleated, a set of medals shined brightly on his chest. Krypka stood up straighter, unnerved by his sudden appearance and decided to take the momment to step forward, she caught her father's eye as she moved, and as he finally figured where she was headed, he began to silently shoo her away. She ignored this and approached the council podium.
"Excuse me, Lord Ven'Ziel and high Marshals of the Nafarian Military, I have some intelligence that may help you come to a conclusion." She stated calmly, as she bowed her head and saluted them. The high Marshals looked on in shock as well as the onlookers on the viewer's podium, as it was not Nafarian custom for people of lower stature to interrupt these kinds of meetings. She looked about her audience, the most powerful people in Imperial Nafaria, all dressed in royal red and black garments, heads completely bare, exposing their jet black hair. Ven'Ziel eyed her, hands folded at his chin, he moved slightly and began to speak, his calm voice spreading across the room, she got goosebumps as he spoke.
"And who are you exactly?"
"I am sorry sir, this is my daughter whom you haven't seen in a while, she shall never do it again" Her father began to say.
"Kenzmon, is she not an adult?" He asked, slightly annoyed.
"Ye-yes sir" Kenzmon said, slightly abashed.
"Then, is it your place to speak for her?"
"No Sir."
"Then let her speak for herself, now, who exactly are you?"
"Kry-Krypka Ras'Vael sir, Colonel, Krypka Ras'Vael." Krypka stated, slightly nervous, for the last time she spoke with the Emperor was while she was still a kid, young, and innocent.
"And what do you have to share with us... Miss Ras'Vael."
"My Lord," She began. "Here are doctrines directly from the IU, orders from all border fleets to not assist in any invasion on Rothfiria by Nafarian forces, they know of our plans and have no interest in aiding the humans." She began to hand the papers over to Ven'Ziel, but halted slightly, the more sensible portion in her mind spoke up."why do you help these murderers? These deceitful liars?" The thought flashed through her mind before she handed the papers to Ven'Ziel, who began to read over them as Kenzmon and Tartarus began to look over his shoulder, reading along. He flipped through a few pages before addressing Krypka again.
"Where did you come by these exactly?"
"While I was undercover sir, working with some NSS agents deep in IU territory, I intercepted these on their way to an IU border fleet."She said.
"Very well," he began.
The Emperor began to shuffle through the large stack of papers, reading each page with great detail. The room was now utterly silent, and all eyes watched the Emperor carefully, as did the conflicted Krypka, her hand on her sidearm. "Vengence, strike on those who caused the death of your friends, and the death of so many worlds." The thought went through her head much like the last one. Her pupils widened and her arm began to shake slightly. One of the honor guards that guarded the chamber was eyeing her. She was quickly snapped out of it by the voice of Ven'Ziel as he addressed her directly.
"Are you ok, Miss Ras'Vael?" He asked smoothly.
"Ye-Yes sir." She replied as she began to return to herself, mind and body.
"Very well then, I will begin by thanking you for this most precious info as this settles my decision on this matter." Ven'Ziel stood up from his chair, rising to his full height, towering over Krypka. "Nafaria!" He roared to the small gathering. "Gather your arms, gather your ships and fleets, for we go to war against these humans! We shall fight to bring our peace to new borders, and we shall bring Nafaria and the Nafarians to a greater age of glory and power than ever seen before!"
This announcement was met by cheers of the various Field Commanders who stood in the viewers podium, for war was a beloved pastime for Nafarians, and the key from keeping them from turning on one another, the key to the existence of the very empire to which they saluted to, and Krypka was one of the few who knew the truth behind Ven'Ziel's goals, and yet, why did she help them, why did she help those who harmed her long ago, and those who harmed him, the one who brought this truth to her.
She thought on this as she walked out of the council chamber, her hood up. She walked back down the steps, away from the grand building. A few soldiers cleared a path for her to walk through, but it did for little good, as the simple civilians still crowded around them, their faces lit up, eagerly shouting questions to her, hoping for a response. She ignored them, and continued to go about her silent debate amongst herself, and this self debate would continue to plague her throughout the night and well into the morning, preventing her, once more from a nights sleep. |

Chapter 1
One year later On board Razor class Interceptor "Deceit" In high orbit above Riforia.
In a room decorated with red banners of the imperial Nafarian government, sat a lone Nafarian officer. He was clad in the standard grey battle armor issued by the imperial military, red lights shown on the shoulder pads of the armor and down the front, indicated it's operation. The room was a dull grey, a bright white light lit the room. Papers lay strewn across a desk towards the back of the room, and a simple bed lay next to the door. The officer sat on a metal chair near the room's window port, his round face was cleanly shaven, his pitch black hair, short, a scar ran down his left eye and ended at his chin, the result of a near fatal slice from a roguetonium power blade.
The man sat, his hand over his helmet, his dark red eyes fixed, staring out a window port next to him into the space above the doomed planet. Husks of once powerful human ships drifted through space, their hulls glowing a dull orange. The Nafarian invasion armada lay like a herd of sharks around the planet, their roguetonium power lights gleaming in space, waiting for the orders that would begin the invasion. The man was nervous, yet prideful as he fidgeted with the different components of his armor. This would be the first attack in which he would command a regiment of soldiers, a high honor within the Nafarian military that brought much respect to a Nafarian's name shall their campaigns been successful. However, he wondered what would become of him had he failed, he thought on this as he watched Nafarian ships scan the smoldering remains of the once proud human fleet, the T shaped interceptors plowing through remains as the larger, boxier Aktun class battlecruisers flanked them. Military failure was considered to be a great shame to the Nafaria race and many commanders have had their own career's ended by catastrophic failures in the field, many of whom went off to take their own lives for their failure.
The previous space battle had lasted no more than an hour, they had caught their defense fleet off guard as planned. After thirty minutes of fighting, the remainder of the human fleet quickly jettisoned back into the safety of the planet as soon as it was obvious that victory would not be possible. He returned to his thinking as he dug at the indentations on his helmet and was soon caught off guard and jumped slightly in his seat as the door to his quarters opened with a mechanical groan. A young looking trooper walked into the room, wearing a neatly ironed dress uniform. He formed a crisp salute and addressed the man.
"Captain Raze sir! Colonel Vextrus needs you on the bridge ASAP!" He said.
"At ease soldier... do you know why he wishes for my company?" Raze asked, rather curious as to why a man of such importance, a man who commanded an entire battlegroup would wish for his counsel so close to the invasion.
"No sir!" The trooper replied.
"Ah, very well then, return to you're post trooper" Raze said as he slowly stood from his seat. The trooper quickly disappeared from the room, jogging briskly towards the hangar bay.
Raze walked from the decorated room into the bare halls of the ship, rouguetonium power veins pulsated through the ceiling of the ship, and small, rectangle viewports gave Raze glimpses of the activities of the fleet outside, he watched as reserve ships began to jump into the system, their grey and red masses quickly forming into battle groups behind the main fleet. Raze continued to walk towards the doorways that marked the bridge, two honor guards stood next to the large doorways, their heavy red armor creaking as they shifted in place. Both the honor guards jumped to life at the sight of their commanding officer, each brining their free hand to their chest in the form of a fist, the salute commonly used by Nafarian soldiers, as they eyed Raze through their red glowing visors. Raze returned the salute as he walked through the doors into the circular bridge, men worked at various stations of the ship, tapping commands into the red holo consoles. A red carpet led to the command chair, and next to it stood his lieutenant and right hand man, his power armor's lights pulsing brightly against his pale skin, and a small piece of red cloth covered one of his shoulders. Raze's attention was brought directly towards the large holo screen at the front of the bridge, the voice of the colonel boomed through the room.
"I understand your concern, lieutenant over the reduction of ships, but this city is thought to have less defenses than originally thought, and the recourses are needed for raids on key fortresses that must be taken to ensure our foothold on the planet." He stated calmly.
"Ah, captain, excellent, I trust your troops are ready for combat?"
"Aye, our ships are awaiting your order sir." Raze said confidently.
"Good, good." He stated as he raised his hand to scratch his pitch black beard. "There are, however a few slight changes to the invasion of Auchyut." He began. "First off, your battle group has been reduced from seven Razor class interceptors, four Inzidion class destroyers, and one Dreadnaught class cruiser, to only three interceptors." Raze grew tense as he heard the words resound off the walls of the ship, for he now had less men to spare, and less air support to cover his men. "Secondly, you have been relieved of primary command for this op, and instead, Colonel Krypka Ras'Vael will be leading your men into combat." Raze's world nearly collapsed at the sound of the second bit of news and his body began to be filled with anger. He knew very well who Krypka was, an arrogant dreadnought, a class of upper crust soldiers within the military, and part of the royal family. She was famous for her victories at the costs of untold numbers of lives, he held much hate for her and her ways and could barely stand the thought of having to serve her.
"Sir! There has to be some form of mistake, or-or joke behind this." Raze began "I mean Colonel Ras'Vael has been known to have lead many Nafarians to their deaths for mere inches of land, and to reduce the size our battle group on top of that, it's... it's absurd!" He exclaimed, his pupils widening.
"I am afraid not Captain, these orders come from Overlord Kenzmon himself, there is not a thing I can do to change these orders." Vextrus stated smoothely. "And the city's defenses appear to be less than what we thought them to be, and there are no defense fleet ships within miles of the city, there is no need for that many ships to take this city." Vextrust finished, a bead of sweat forming on his forehead.
Raze remained silent, his gaze fixed on the screen, his hands curled into fists.
"Think of it this way Raze, this attack will be a cake walk for your men, and while Ras'Vael's tactics aren't the most conservative, they are proven to be effective, this easy victory will look good on your career captain, and the emperor will be most pleased with the taking of Auchyut." He stated again.
"Yes sir" Raze said, not able to say any more.
"Very well then, Colonel Ras'Vael will be arriving on board your ship within ten minutes, prepare your soldiers for a swift debriefing before combat, I will see you planetside captain, Vextrus, out" The screen turned blank at these words and lifted into the ceiling of the bridge.
The main viewport was now visible and the planet could now be seen in it's entirety. Large nafarian warship of different classes and sizes orbited the planet. Blue seas covered a good portion of the planet and green continents floated on top of them. Lights from the planet's many proud cities were mixed with glowing craters on the planets surface from early bombardments of the planet. Three sleek Inzidion class destroyers passed by "Deceit" and headed straight for the planet, their hulls bristling with ship to ship and ship to ground cannons, the main guns on their pointed fronts were beginning to heat up. Scout groups could be seen entering the planets atmosphere, their shields flickering from the intense heat. Raze turned to his lieutenant, who was still standing next to the command chair.
"Marcus, I want the hangar bays left open for our little guest." he said bitterly as he turned away from the bridge and began to walk out of the bridge.
"Yes sir." Marcus replied. He looked as if he were to ask where his captain was headed but seemed to think better than to do so.
Raze walked through the halls of the ship as he placed his helmet over his head, the red visor flashed a greeting and began to monitor his vitals, a targeting rectical appeared on the center of his HUD. He brushed past soldiers and maintenance workers as he walked through the halls, this time ignoring the view ports. He approached the doors leading to the massive hangar bays and walked through them, his eyes soaking in the vast hangar. Legions of soldiers marched their way to their assigned dropships, who's blocky masses hovered row by row slightly off the ground. Supply boxes lay cluttered across the ground and soldiers were moving from box to box, equipping themselves with arms and ammunition for the coming fight. Tanks and other vehicles drove to various locations about the ship, being loaded into heavier dropships. A group of technicians could be seen outfitting a tank for battle, testing it's operations and loading it with the proper ammunition. A clearing at the end of the hangar had been prepared for the colonel's arrival, and two legions of soldiers stood, awaiting her arrival.
Raze walked by soldier after soldier, ignoring their salutes and greetings as he headed towards the clearing, and it was not too long after he arrived and inspected the ranks of the soldiers before the dropship arrived, containing the colonel. The ship banked about the clearing, avoided flights of wasp class fighters as they zoomed to their launch positions and out of the hangar to escort the Razor as it would soon be entering the planet's atmosphere. The dropship soon landed in front of the boarding ladder provided for it's arrival, it's hatches opened and it settled onto the ground. Krypka stepped out onto the top of the ladder, nearly her entire body was clad in the infamous red, ornate armor the marked that of a dreadnought, it's plates formed V shapes down her torso, allowing maximum mobility, the pieced of her body that weren't covered with armor were done so with a black rubbery substance. The only bit of skin showing was her face, jet black hair fell down slightly past her shoulders, framing her pale, narrow face. Bright blood red eyes scanned the ranks before her as she walked down the boarding ladder, her hands locked behind her, her chest puffed out in a prideful manner and her head drawn back, her eyes narrowed and her pupils shrank as she adjusted herself to the bright light of the hangar bay, the soldiers saluted her as she walked down, even those who were simply passing by. She stopped before raze, looking him up and down before speaking.
"You are the commander of this vessel, yes?" she asked arrogantly.
"Indeed" Raze said briskly.
"Then I would expect you of all people to salute a superior..." she began, an air of disappointment in her voice. "Even you're soldiers know when a superior officer, and soldier is on deck."
Raze scowled and reluctantly gave a crisp salute, his fist clanging against his armor.
"Better... at ease" she said. She then turned her gaze to the rest of the soldiers in the clearing. "Greetings, soldiers, legionaires of Nafaria." She said as she walked up and down the line of soldiers. "I am Krypka Ras'Vael, and I shall be leading you all in your campaign here..." she said with a grin growing on her face. "Now, I expect no seed of error in this invasion, as you have no need to fear these humans, as our technology far exceeds theirs." she said.
She took a moment of silence as she walked by the rows of soldiers, inspecting their gear and armor. "As you can see out of this hangar..." she continued, waving her hand behind her, directing the soldier's attention to the vast space outside of the ship. "Their fleet, lies in ruins, and what remains, runs, hides from us behind the safety of their planet's atmosphere." She soon reached the end of the formation and did a tight sweep, facing forward once more, her eyes resting on Raze's, he noticed fain circles underneath her eyes as she began to walk up the rows once more, quicker this time. "And remember this Nafarians, at the end of this day, we will stand proudly over this city, and by the end of the month, this planet! And we will be one step closer to completing our goal..." She said as she stopped suddenly, her head turned to her left staring down one of the rows, faint lines appeared on her forehead and she seemed to be lost in thought. "To unify this galaxy..." she began again before trailing off once more. "For greater peace." She finished, speaking the final words more faintly.
"GLORY TO NAFARIA! GLORY TO VEN'ZIEL!" The legions of soldiers roared in unison, followed by mixed shouts from other legions down the hangar.
"Dismissed!" She yelled, regaining her former posture.
"Great, a nut job..." Raze thought to himself as she briskly approached him, her hands reaching towards a tac pad that was clipped to her armor. "Well Colonel, what ingenious plan have you concocted?" Raze said, a tone of jealousy evident in his voice.
"Well, Captain..." she said as she brought up a holo map of the city on the pad. "We're going to send in some shock commandoes as a first wave, break up their defenses and provide early reconnaissance, two of our ships should be dropping them in now." She began.
"But wouldn't that be suikide?" Raze said, slightly shocked. "Sending in shock commandoes as a first wave with no armor or air support is suikidal, we should hold off on them until-"
"Captain, if I was asking you're opinion I would have asked what your thoughts were on this, wouldn't have I?" She stated coldly, not even bothering to shoot a glance towards Raze.
"Of course not ma'am." Raze said, anger beginning to boil like lava in his stomach.
"Good, now that we have that settled, I want you to arm yourself and meet me at your assigned dropship in five minutes, am I clear captain?" She said, placing the tac pad away, and shooting him a sharp glare.
"Yes Ma'am." He said coldly before storming briskly off towards the supply crates, fuming to himself, in disbelief about Krypka's arrogance. He constantly reminded himself that the invasion would be quick and easy and he would only have deal with this arrogant excuse for a soldier for a few hours as he grabbed a sleek rifle and a handful of clips for it. He sifted through crates angrily, grabbing round, grey grenades and heavier charges and attaching it to various places on his armor before he was interrupted by the overcome, Marcus's rough voice filled the hangar.
"Attention to all battle squads, we will be entering the planet's atmosphere in seven minutes, all are advised to make their final preparations and make your way to you're assigned dropships, glory to Nafaria!" He said calmly.
Raze turned swiftly, grabbing his rifle and slinging it down the weapon holster across his back, he quickly made his way towards his dropship which lay only ten feet from the supply crates. Tanks and other war vehicles passed by him as he walked, as he turned his head out towards the hangar doors, he was greated with the massive bulk of the planet Riforia, which lay much closer now. The once large warships now seemed like small mosquitos before a boulder. He soon reached the bay doors of the dropship, he stooped inside the darkened bay of the ship, only dim red lights lit portions of it. Large MG's lay folded behind the now closing doors at either end of the bay, heavy seats lined the back and front wall's of the bay, each one holding a Nafarian warrior, clad in the same grey armor Raze wore, rifle in hand. Raze turned to his right and looked down a dark hallway that led to the command bay of the ship and the cockpit, he walked through the hall, and one of the Nafarians seated next to the hall shot him a thumbs up with his gauntleted hand, a common human gesture that Nafarians had adopted after years of conquering human worlds.
He soon entered the smaller command bay, the bay was lighter than the other due to two view ports above the three seats at either wall. Krypka sat at the end of the bay, she was hunched over slightly and her hands held what seemed to be some form of holo tag, she looked up at his presense and quickly straightened her posture rapped the tag around her wrist. Raze took the seat across from her, and a awkward silence soon took place.
"Thirty seconds before we enter the planet's atmosphere." Marcus's voice boomed, barely heard inside of the closed quarters of the ship. It wasn't long before the ship began to vibrate, shaking from it entering the atmosphere. After a while, the shaking stopped, and one of the pilots in the forward cockpit leaned back, craning his head to see the command bay, he raised a small intercom to his helmeted face and began to speak.
"And we're off in five... four... three... two... one!" He said quickly as the dropship began to lift off of the ground. the last glimpses of the hangar could be seen from the viewports as the ship darted out of the "Deceit". The ship began to jettison out, and Raze stood and snakingly walked towards the cockpit, Krypka eyeing him. He put his hands on either pilot's chair to steady himself as the ship was buffeted by the turbulence. Explosions and sounds of weapons firing in the distance could be heard as his eyes were greeted with the up close view of Auchyut, a grey, dull city filled with towers the reached for the sky. portions of the city burned and five more dropships could be seen in front of them, heading towards the vast city. Two Razor class interceptors could be seen floating above certain sectors of the city, smaller craft pouring out of their hangars. Flights of small single man human craft could be seen heading straight for dropship formations.
"Jets! on their way to intercept us! High com, we need those Wasp flights to cover us now!" One of the pilots yelled into the mic."
No response came over the coms but Wasp fighters could be seen flying past the dropships, their turrets opening fire, streaks of red shells streaked across, past the dropships, causing two of the jets to burst into flames. The rest of the jet flight zoomed pas the first row of wasps and directly engaged the two foremost dropships, rockets hitting one, causing it to careen, slowly spinning down towards the city to it's fiery doom.
"Evasive maneuvers!" The pilot yelled as he jerked on the control stick, the dropship took a tight right, followed by two other dropships and three wasps. "Ma'am, our formation is split, we need to revise our LZ!" He said, not taking his eyes from the view at hand, the ships were now level with some of the taller towers, Wasps took point and the dropships followed close behind. Krypka stood and peered into the cockpit, looking out it's larger viewport.
"No Corporal, we will simply rendezvous with the rest of the formation at the planned location, we will not diverge from the current plan." she stated firmly as she struggled to maintain her balance.
"Yes ma'am, umm, captain, I suggest you take your seat." The pilot replied.
Raze obeyed the pilots suggestion and sat down, his eyes looking out the viewport across from him, watching the buildings zoom by as Krypka walked into the main bay and began shouting orders for the bay doors to be opened. Another dropship began to come into view from the viewport, it's slimmer head slightly in the viewport's frame. Suddenly a rocket slammed into the neck of the ship, a loud explosion followed as the ship's engines screamed, and it careened into a neighboring building, disappearing from sight mere moments later.
"Damnit, we lost another one." The pilot said over the coms. "The LZ is only forty feet away, we just need to..." He said as he trailed off, and the ship slowed. Raze careened his head to see out the cockpit's viewport, he was greeted with a large clearing in the city, a shorter, circular tower could be seen surrounded by a large circular part of the road, buildings lining the opposite section. Wasps and jets could be seen battling it out amongst each other, dropships dropping their payload on the roads below. The pilot however, was distracted by none of this, but instead by large, alien looking object on top of the tower, blue glowing rings laced around a large barrel that attached to the sleek boxy base. "Ma'am, you may want to come look at this he said." Krypka slowly walked into the command bay, a smoking sidearm in her left hand, her helmet in her other, she reached the cockpit and looked to where the pilot was pointing, the large object began to move, and point towards one of the massive Razor's.
They all stood transfixed, as the blue rings began to pulsate, soon a large crack sounded through the air and a blew beam arced across the streets, obliterating any craft that stood in it's path, the beam hit home at the interceptor's front, the shields on the ship glowed a bright red and finally disappeared altogether, the beam then passed through what used to be the Razor's shields and smashed into the ship's front end. An explosion soon rippled across the large interceptor's front, and the giant ship careened slightly before regaining it's balance, fires now raging down it's sides.
"This is Captain Veely of 'Solitude', our ship has taken heavy damage, I repeat our ship has taken heavy damage, we are going to-" He began to say before another blue beam smashed into the side of the ship, and shooting out the opposite side, gutting the ship. Nothing else was heard but static as 'Solitude began to crash through building after building, descending towards the ground.
"Damnit! Get us to the LZ, now!" Krypka yelled at the pilot as she walked into the command bay, placing her helmet on her seat and pulling out a her tac pad, her eyes hungrily reading it's contents as the dropship zoomed out of the clearing. The ship soon pulled into another clearing, this one cluttered with human soldiers who opened fire on the ship. The loud repetition of the MG's came from the troop bay as the soldiers began to open fire on the human's below.
"Take us down here corporal!" Krypka said.
"Ma'am, the LZ's a bit hot, don-" The pilot began.
"No, we need to head out from here and take that gun or whatever the hell it was out." She said. The dropship began a quick descent as she spoke these words, but it never would reach the ground, as from a neighboring building, Raze saw the flash of an RPG going off, he only had seconds to react and he did so trying to pull Krypka to a seat. Everything in his mind moved slow and those mere seconds felt like hours as he reached for her, his hands only seconds late as the rocket impacted the side of the command bay, fire coming in through the now broken viewport, the wall concaving in. Raze's last sight was of Krypka's armor clad body flying at him, then everything went black. |

Well, Rom, I'm surprised you actually wrote stories of the Nafarians. But, any way, this was a good read nonetheless- I have only read the first part though, not that next bit- chapter 1 -as of right now. But, still, I like your style.
Please, continue, though I'm confused why this is in C&G and not MTVB... |

Thanks!
I've been writing lore for the Nafarians for over 2 years now and have loads written up for it. It started with me wanting to do something creative and it turned into this.
I plan to eventually take my work to the bigger medias.
Thanks though I'll actually be posting Chapter 2 tonight. |

3213 GST Nafaria City of Ven'Ziel
A small, young Krypka Ras'Vael hurried through the busy streets of Ven'Ziel city, passing nafarian after nafarian as she hurried across the dark grey pavement, her red eyes bright with excitement and her black hair billowing behind her. She was a dwarf compared to the adult Nafarians who towered over her, and an ant to the colossal buildings that lined the pavement, their tops reaching for the sky and beyond. She rushed through the crowds, even pushing aside passersbys as she ran which was met by scowling from the older adults, many of whom had previously been engaged in a seemingly important conversation. As Krypka ran, she found a wall to her right side, short and grey, the green tops of trees could be seen peeking over the top of the wall. She ran faster, knowing her destination was close at hand. Krypka skidded to a halt as the wall began to grow taller, she quickly found the opening which led to a vast park, filled with green trees, grass and grey rocks, a lone Nafarian sat by a regal looking fountain at the center of the park, the fountain depicted the Nafarian Emperor, proudly pointing off in the distance, water jutted from his hand and an engraving could be seen along the base of the fountain. The nafarian's head tilted back as if asleep. Krypka stopped for a moment to catch her breath and admire the view before darting off into the vast green expanse before her, heading straight for the figure by the fountain, a determined look in her eye, it was not long before she reached the figure, and bent down to catch her breath. The Nafarian picked his head up for a moment, letting his long brown hair cover his forehead and examined Krypka with his dull grey eyes before saying in a partially teasing voice.
"You're late".
"Yes Jack-" Krypka began before taking long breaths again, still hunched over. "I know- Academy kept me- after class."
"It's always something with you" Jack said teasingly again as he stood up and smoothed out his white jumpsuit, a smile spreading across his immaculately clean face. Jack looked like most other Nafarians, but anyone close to him would know he was anything but. Jack was a hybrid, a mix between a human and a Nafarian. Krypka, after finally catching her breath, sat down next to Jack and looked into his face as he gazed at the fountain in front of them, water crashing against the palestone that made the fountain.
"Well?" Krypka asked, enthusiasm rising in her voice. "You wanted to tell me something massively important."
Jack looked at her for a moment, before turning back to the fountain, seemingly ignoring her question. The fountain before them depicted a towering Nafarian, pointing forwards with his hand, and holding a banner with the nation's symbol engraved on it. Across the base of the fountain lay one phrase repeated over and over again.
"Peace through colonization..." Jack said, reading the engraving.
"What?" Krypka asked, now turning her attention to the fountain.
"Nothing..." Jack began. "Oh yes, what I was going to tell you." He said, the happiness fading from his voice as he spoke. "Next year will be my last year at the academy." He said.
"Why?" Krypka asked astonished. "You're only 16, you should have another 4 years there before they organize and deploy you."
"Their pulling me early, I qualified for NSS and they apparently need me for the war effort." He said.
Jack began to reach into his pocket, his hand reaching deep into it. He closed his fist and dragged out a pair of identification tags, he touched the tag's surface and they lit up with a bright red color, and beckoned Krypka to come closer. She did as he commanded and read the tags as they showed Jack's name, his rank, and division on the tag. She could hardly believe any of this as she looked at the tags, a part of her wanted to throw the tags into the fountain before them. Jack had been one of her closest friends at the academy and she hardly wanted to see him going to the front as early as now, she had not prepared for it to come this early and at such short notice. Jack shoved the tags back into his pocket and returned his gaze to the fountain. The silence that began between the two friends was interrupted by several loud cracks in the sky, a small battle group of Nafarian warships appeared in the sky, three smaller ones in arrow formation followed by two larger ones. The smaller vessels were sleek, T shaped and were pitch black save for the red rouguetonium lights that powered the ship. The larger ships were dark grey and were bulkier and blockier than their counterparts, red lights also covered these ships. The ships held several massive scars on their hulls, indicating battle damage. Dropships could be seen heading towards the battlegroup in all directions.
"Patrols at this hour?"Krypka asked, astonished.
"Not patrols, their coming for reinforcements..." Jack began. "See how the dropships are not returning from the hangars? Their simply replenishing the ship's supply of soldiers." Jack continued. "Besides, they never send a battlegroup for patrols, especially not in wartime."
"But, reports say the war on the front is going excellently, why do we need reinforcements?" Krypka inquired.
Jack chuckled a bit under his breath, the orange glow of the sun setting on the distant buildings in his gaze. "Look, I have to go now, but there are things about our government, Krypka that the populace knows nothing about, the poor fools are led blindly, come back here tomorrow and I will tell you more... Ven'Ziel is not the person he appears to be..." He said as he got up and began walking off, leaving a confused Krypka to watch the sun set over the hills as she pondered on what Jack said, listening to the water crash against the palestone, and feeling the water's mist splash against her face as the winds picked up.
It was dark by the time Krypka left the park, the young fourteen year old walked calmly through the near empty streets, knowing her status would keep the few street thugs away from her. She passed by a bar, it's interior lit up with many variants of neon blue red and green, a group of young partiers stumbled out, laughing and joking about the days events. Krypka greatly envied them as they probably did not have a care in the world as apposed to her, she now not only dealt with being forced into a military career she neither wanted nor cared for but also was facing loosing one of her closest friends at the academy. These were not things that the simple partier had to worry about. Krypka left the sight of the bar and was soon walking in the direction of a rather large building, it's interior dark save for a few lights shining through it's upper windows. The large property was gated off and surrounded by large amounts of greenery, two fountains could be seen at either side of the property's doors. Two guards stood at either side of the gate, their power armor lighting up small portions of pavement around her, each stood straight, ready to move at a moments notice. One of them noticed Krypka as she approached, slouched, and shuffling forward.
"You're late again Miss Ras'Vael, Kenzmon has been looking for you." One of the guards stated as he looked down at her. "He has instructed us to not let you in shall you be late one more time." He continued, sympathy beginning to rise in his voice.
"I know..." Krypka managed, trying to find the right words to say. "Can you not tell him that class ran late for me? That they were teaching us some night maneuver? Just this one time, for me?" She pleaded as she stuck her hands in her pockets.
"You know just as I do that that lie would never work, your father is head of the war department and would have been alerted should class have been let out later." The guard protested, shifting uncomfortably.
"Please Filsee, do something..." she implored, urgency rising in her voice.
Filsee shifted uncomfortably before scowling and walking over to the gate, his partner watched him warily. Filsee tapped a few controls on the gate pad. His fingers worked like magic as he removed the metal covering over the controls, he wrenched one of the wires from it's place and replaced the cover. The gate began to slowly open. He then raised his wrist to his head and began to talk.
"This is Corporal Filsee, the gate is busted and we need backup for the night, over." He said. His call was met with incoherent rambling from his helmet mic as he turned to Krypka, who was shifting excitedly. "Go on, get inside quickly, we didn't see you." Filsee said as his partner shook his head slowly, still not moving from his position.
"I owe you one." Krypka said quietly as she darter inside, dodging the incoming reinforcements heading towards the gate.
Krypka continued to walk towards the great doors at the front of the estate, opening them as she approached, she was quickly startled as she was greeted by the towering form of her father, his hands behind his back and still in formal military attire, a dark grey highly decorated trenchcoat, and plain grey pants with black boots. A red cloth went across his chest, a golden tassel hanging from it at his shoulder. His red eyes glared down at Krypka, his medium length pitch black hair combed back across his head. A scar ran down his left cheek but other than that, his pale face was immaculate, even of facial hair.
"So, what kept you Krypka... and more importantly, how did you get in?" Kenzmon asked, a tone of anger in his voice. Krypka cowered before him, not knowing what to say. "Was it one of the guards who let you in?" He asked vehemently.
"No... No sir." She said, her pupils growing wide with fear. "The gate... it... broke, I-I snuck in sir." She said, growing more fearful as she hoped that he accepted the lie, not wanting to cause trouble for Filsee.
"So you got lucky..." he spat as he walked backwards a few steps. "Now... why were you late?" He asked.
"Lost-lost track of time sir." She said deciding to take Filsee's advice.
"And was anyone with you?" He asked.
"N-no sir" She stated, stumbling with her words slightly.
"Are you sure..." Kenzmon asked, looking into her eyes directly now, sensing her voice weakening.
"No sir." Krypka stated more firmly, not wanting to drag Jack into trouble as well.
"Very well..." Kenzmon said, a tone of disbelief in his voice. "I will go easy on you today, I will allow you to sleep here but you are to report to Colonel Yusol Kel'then for a week after classes at the academy, if you wish to stay out late, you will do so with Yusol, and you will improve upon yourself as your marks are not great this year, and you will do better, am I understood?" He said, finally lifting his gaze from her.
"Yes sir!" She said and began to walk up the stairs to the upper floor. She took a moment to look to her left as she walked and saw another higher up government official in the next room, chuckling to himself as he watched her, he too had a scar down his face but like Kenzmon, had a clean face. She knew him well as Zadanthar Fizadi'Cruxphen, one of Ven'Ziel's top commanders, and one of his right hand men. She scurried up the stairs and into her room and flopped onto her bed. Her room was filled with the nice furnishings of any Nafaria aristocrat, her bed was soft and was one of the best made on the planet, the blankets she lay on, smooth, and the red curtains that draped down her windows were made of the finest cloth. Krypka stared at the ceiling as she lay, half not believing her own luck. she quietly dreaded how her next day at academy would go the next day, as she despised the place. More importantly she wondered how the rest of her required time at the academy would go without Jack, for he always seemed to brighten up the place and make it seem better to her. She thought on this as her eyelids grew heavy, and as her mind began to go numb, leading her to slowly drift into a sleep, her body warmed from the blankets she lay on top of. |
