or a debate, catfight, ect.
OT is very popular when it comes to this and I see the same things over and over. So, I'm going to list 10 ways to know, whether you like it or not.
Note. This is implying that it is an argument/whateveryouwanttocallit, and it is not a troll. If you are an OTer, you should be able to know if someone is trolling or not.
Warning: If 10 short paragraphs is hard for your reading level, I would recommend just skimming over and looking at what interests you.
1. When someone uses a dictionary definition. Unless you are arguing over a dictionary definition itself, usually people use this as a way to look smart, or be a smartass. 2. When someone results to flaming/trolling. You know someone has obviously ran our of good ideas when they start calling you an "idiot". And a lot of times people will say "I was trolling you the whole time". When someone says this, it's the same thing as saying "You made me look stupid, so here's my excuse." 3. "Their parents probably told/taught them this". Edgy/Fedora wearing people love to use this. The irony is many OTers have the opposite opinion as their parents because they want to feel rebellious. 4. Catching a grammar mistake. One of the oldest excuses in the book, and is usually used when you want to get off of the topic because you are looking like an idiot and are attempting to look like the smart one. 5. Quoting words that weren't even said. This one is usually used by someone who is very mad or someone who is trolling. For example, someone replies using an opinion about a topic, then someone responds to them by saying they are quoting the person and then making what they said look very stereotypical and biased/judgmental. 6. Calling someone a troll. This one is an exception, because some troll attempts are extremely obvious. But many times someone gets so ignorant to the point where if someone doesn't agree with them they are classified as a troll. Many times people have called Richiesan a troll(which has already been proven true), but Richiesan's trolling skills were so good that he managed to pull off people believing him. I was a victim of this for a short period of time, then I slapped myself in the face. People usually can't pull this off, because to troll OT very successfully, you have to have everyone know your attitude and opinions, which takes more than a few threads. 7. Labeling everyone in a group as the same. This one is so pathetic, that I shouldn't even have to explain it, but I will. If you are stupid enough to believe that every Christian, Atheist, Liberal, Conservative, ect, is the same, you really need a reality check. 8. Saying that it's pointless. A lot of times when someone has just had it with the other person, they just drop out of the argument. This is an exception, but many times people have said something along the lines of "You are too stupid to talk to me", and use it as an excuse to evade criticism. Sometimes they are actually honest, but by just reading over what has been said should point out the obvious. 9. Using terms such as *facepalm*, posting meme faces, ect. This isn't always used in arguments, but people usually do this to attempt to make the other look stupid. 10. Targeting someone after an argument. People who do this usually are shaking irl while doing this, and want revenge so bad that they decide to target someone because they can't get over something. Usually younger OTers do this because they are too immature to understand the fact that they lost.
If you read this, then congrats. I am also not implying that I have never done any of these, or trying to look like a know it all, because it isn't true. Anyways, if you think I forgot any, go ahead and point it out. |

Not really 'rebellious' unless you're trying waaaaay too hard. I've had different opinions from my parents for a while. |

| 2000's kids don't know the secret art of trolling. That's why they will never be as experienced as the intermediate users back in 2006-08 who are probably internet vintages now. Poor 2000's kids. Forcing to live with The Fox and Gangnam style as the scraps of me-me entertainment. |

Not everyone agrees with 9, but I should of noted that it was an exception because this is OT. For 3, I do agree with you, but I'm talking about most arguments For 4, it's only necessary if you can't read it |

| I just wish we'd stop having arguments and start having discussions. We could all learn something from a discussion, but everyone gets mad in an argument. |
