I have the PS4, and I would say get it. I have 2k13, Battlefield 4, and CoD Ghosts (My dad got that). I still have my PS3, and my friends do too. They have the same games I have. Everything is better in the PS4 over the PS3, except the keyboard that comes up (I'm not used to it yet). However, pricey, it still is cheaper than the X1, and more people have/are getting the PS4, over the X1.
Console itself : $399 PSN Plus (to go online): $49.99 Game: $59.99 Remote (I'm taking a guess): $64.99

For gaming I wouldn't suggest a laptop, as it can get difficult to game on a laptop(It's possible though, depends on the specs). If you're not going to use the laptop solely for gaming then I guess get it. If you're going for gaming, then get the PS4.

@ghost
you can buy an aesthetic controller, build a small form factor PC, put it under your TV and play games with the controller from your couch. |

i game on a laptop, but laptops that are designed for gaming generally start at 800$ if you want to get anything decent... |
