I am interested in Hungary too. Like most eastern European countries I imagine it differs significantly based upon location in the country. Some cities/areas are probably very nice, some not so. If anyone could provide an answer on what Hungary is like I would appreciate it.

What am I supposed to describe? You are right that it varies depending on the location. A man from Budapest could barely understand someone with dialect of Csongrad in Hungarian. Also Lake Balaton and Budapest are tourist traps. In Budapest they scam American tourists. Please do not go to a restaurant that has signs in the English, they will scam you. Some other things here. Watch out for radicals please, there are much of them. There are much of Gypsies too. Hungarian is a very difficult language for English speakers I should say, because it is not an Indo-European language, so English has more in common with Hindi than it does with Hungarian. I need to say that Hungarians will not understand foreign accents in Hungarian, so you have to try on the pronunciation. As for this, I don't know what you want me to describe. The history? Politics? Architecture? What is there to see?

I live in the Southern Great Plain, in Csongrád. I'm close to Serbia and Romania. Hungarians like foreign people. If you're an American, our people will treat you like a celebrity.

Yeah maybe not in some places. Budapest people however expect Americans to be rich and they are fascinated with Americans in their country.

Why do you say lies like that?? Americans coming here as rich.. But every East-European country is poor, and Hungary is one of them aswell.. But still one of the richest in East Europe.

True that we had a bad president, 4 year ago, and we have worse now, but still Hungary would be really good place, if we would have a better government, like Jobbik.
