I don't feel the need to get special tools JUST for writing scripts
You can use Microsoft Word if you know HOW to. |

there's really no point in using word, especially with all those damn macros
use adobe story free, it's roughly 9999999999x better

| Seriously, people aren't going to be judging your product off what you used to write it. Just use whatever works. You can have as many flashy lights as you want, but it's not going to help you produce in a major way. Only one I can think of that actually assists the writing process is Write or Die. Everything else is basically cosmetic changes. |

if you're saying that celtix/final draft/adobe are only "cosmetic changes" from microsoft word
then you're obviously not speaking from experience

| Word, Drive, and Quick office is what I use. I mostly trust Microsoft and Google for documents and stuff alike. |

Screenwriting programs are automatically format pages to fit the standard layout of screenplays, and have macros to make it easier to switch between settings (For example, from Scene Heading to Character; font-wise, they aren't written the same). Not only that, you can write and save information about characters, sets, and personnel without having to make a separate file.
Could you format a Word file in the proper screenwriting format? Sure, but it would just take longer. |

| I do some creative writing. Don't write screenplays however. I'd just like to ask why you need a special program to write them. |

| For formatting, you do need something to do that for you. I was wrong about that part. For the rest of it, though, it's really just having multiple documents open at once with different purposes. |

@age There's a LOT of formatting that just can't be done in word without the use of a ton of weird macros. It's just a lot easier to use other programs.

You think James Cameron needed a bunch of cheap programs to write The Terminator? Or for George Lucas to write Star Wars? |

Why thank you. On an unrelated note do you mind if I explain why I think the American Government actually masterminded 9/11? |
