I went to their website and tried to dl it, but when I clicked on it, it said windows can't open this file.

I'm assuming by "DL" you mean "install"
If you want an easy, first-time install find "LuaForWindows" and just install that, it's an installer (if you have Windows of course)
If not you could be boring and get the Lua source and build that, but more exciting get LuaJIT instead...look up on YouTube "How to build Lua from source"
If you don't have experience programming before I suggest you go with the 1st suggestion |

| Yeah you can't just download a source code tarball for a cross-platform library and expect things to magically happen. |
