What you want to do, is to get to at least a low orbit around Kerban, and then, don't just go crazy with nodes right away, you just want to wait until that moment when the Mun is rising over the horizon, then you switch to map view, and burn until your orbit hits the Mun's point of reference. THEN use the nodes, to bring your encounter on the Mun below the surface. Make sure you have plenty of fuel left, 'cause you'll need it! Once you start getting near the surface, around 10 kilos, start burning, not all at once, you'll waste fuel like that. Then, once you're slow enough, cut down on your throttle, until you are about to reach the surface. Then, if you're going faster than 5 m/s, turn up the throttle, slowly decreasing your speed, setting to the surface of the Mun at a speed at < 2 m/s. |

| Also you should aim about 45° of the Mün in its orbit to achieve an encounter |

@Kitty Well, they way I always got to it was by waiting until moon-rise (Or in this game's case, mun-rise), then burn until encounter. |

| What does that even mean? It's more efficient the way I said to do it, it also helps to have a circular orbit around Kerbin. |

@Kitty What I'm trying to say is, and I'm sorry if you don't get this, that when I'm up on a low-ish Kerbin orbit, I wait until the Mun is rising over the horizon, then I burn towards it until encounter. |

| That's incredibly inefficient. What you want to do is a Hohmann Transfer. |

| funny, i was just playing ksp (by which i mean "i'm crying over the fact that i need less than 20 more science to unlock docking ports and last time i got to the mun the rocket i was using was a probe and not even a lander so i have to fly to the mun AGAIN to get any more science") |

@Kitty Let the rocket scientist tell you how to fly a computerized rocket in a game, then... |
