This is for everyone in the developed world whining about the 1% and how they're too successful and they'd like to maybe steal some of their cars or something.
You live in, say, Europe or America. You have at least one car. You have a television. You have a computer. You have food, you have a house/apartment, you have relatively good schooling, you don't have to work in the mines at age 12. You live in a modern, developed country with indoor plumbing and electricity.
You are part of the global 1%. Kids in Africa, Asia, and Latin America - they don't have that.
But you know what those poor kids do? They say, okay, I'm going to work hard and maybe one day I can be rich too. They don't whine and ask for America to send more aid. They don't call for the genocide of Europeans. They just work harder.
You can learn from them. |

| And you know how the 99% will get a better life? Hard work, dedication, intelligence, and capitalism. Exactly what they're starting to do now. We won't solve their problems by handing out goodies. |

The government is horrible in devoloping countries! China doesn't care about human rights! Nigeria has a lots of money but they don't use the money to build schools, hospitals,... They would get their own Engineers to build a better infrastructure! The population in Africa and south America is rising because of poverty! That leads to more poor peoples! |

The Governments are what causes poverty. Nigeria's government is taking the money from the aid given, and simply stealing it. They don't give it to the people in need of this. |

Right, but Nigeria gets the money from OIL! |

That's totally not what they say. "Hard work" and "Be rich" are not the focus of these kids. Believe or not, they tend to think about something more appropiate for their class and age. Getting by working for their family (which, if education wasn't mandatory in most countries, would mean that they don't get it because they have other stuff to do), having friends in their 'hood, stuff like that. |

Capitalism is pretty much the reason why the "99%" is trapped in such a poor state. Our economies (mainly the US, Canada, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand) rely on the rest of the world's cycle of poverty to maintain our economies. Cheap labor, corrupt foreign governments and easily exploitable foreign ressources are essentially the reason why the developped world remains developped and why the undevelopped world remains undevelopped.
So no, capitalism won't help the rest of the world get rich. This notion of "work hard and you'll do well in life" is a fallacy. |

Actually, that's wrong too. Colonial states tried to do that. Capitalism, on the other hand, and despite the explotation that comes with it, give foreign investment to the poorer regions, which they can use to develop themselves.
It's not magical, but as far as development comes, it helps. |

That too is false.
Colonialism simply had plastic surgery and changed it's name to globalization.
Most of these "investments" you're talking about are international corporations outsourcing jobs to poor countries with cheap labour, where they can minimize costs as much as possible. |

And in the long-run, it still helps. |

Only until the ressources are all gone. Then it's on to the next impoverished country with cheap labour.
Capitalism is an over-indulgent self-interested system. It is not something deserving of glorification. |

Haha, no. All third world countries are better-off now than at the time of their independence, and leaving aside most of Sub-Saharan Africa, much better. |

| Also keep in mind there's not an infinite supply of cheap labour. |

"On average, you have a better life."
That's only if you assume the mean result of all qualities of life is acceptable. I disagree with this.
"are the ones they make for themselves"
If I was born into the world and I was physically abused, does that mean I created that problem for myself? |

"As a citizen of the first world, it is unrealistic to compare your own problems to a citizen of the third world."
So why compare them? |
