axe, windranger, drow ranger, omniknight, and juggernaut (i was axe)
best pub group ever
everyone had at least a little bit of experience with wraith-night, and knew exactly what to do. we beat normal and new game +, but couldn't continue because windranger had to go
about 8000 shining fragments and 4000 phantom fragments were earned |

It's awesome, it's essentially Last Stand from Dawn of War 2/Retribution. Protect Skeleton King in the center from the four corners of spawning mobs, each wave gets harder and harder eventually spawning bosses.
Legion Commander "rekts" I believe is the parlance you kids use. |

btw, the hero pool is limited, and most heroes are specifically changed for the mode (ex. drow has a different spell on w, like ashe's w). lycan isn't on this list, and i'm sad that phantom assassin isn't either.
just some tips:
1. get the right team comp. generally it has at least one tank, one kiting carry, one support, and the other two are wildcards. axe is arguably the best tank, legion commander and sven are also viable options. windrunner is the best kiting carry, drow also viable. omniknight is the best support, shadow shaman is also viable.
2. arcane boots are a must on many heroes. arcane boots ii is a must only on some heroes.
3. KITE. being swarmed by enemies? KITE. tower's going to die? KITE. tank is sitting around doing nothing? KITE. ursas? KITE.
4. note the problematic waves. wave 4, slardars stun if there are 2+ people there. wave 5, KILL THE PROPHETS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. wave 6, send two guys to kill all the eggs and spiderlings, while the rest kill the broodmother. wave 7, AVOID THE FIRE. wave 9, KITE THE URSAS, THEY REALLY HURT. wave 11, chase the gyrocopterss and kill the rockets.
5. note the top heroes. windranger is the best hands down due to her windrun and zephyr. axe, omni, venomancer, and drow are extremely strong as well. legion commander, sven, shadow shaman, lina, and templar assassin are viable. juggernaut, crystal maiden, jakiro, sand king, shadow fiend, and magnus are considered weak, but can be fit onto some teams. the rest i haven't seen enough of yet.
6. everyone must build somewhat tanky except for windrunner. you die fast otherwise, and you don't just simply respawn super easily.
7. if you lose a tower, it's not the end of the world. it's better to lose an outer tower to make sure that the inner towers don't die, so focus on the swarm of enemies around the altar, not those stragglers on the outside.
8. know what to build. don't buy salves/clarities. they drop from enemies. generally, i'd say that block/evasion is best for tanks, attack speed is best for carries, and mana and tanky support-ish items are best for supports. don't rush lifesteal on carries.
9. if you die, wait for a resurrection unless you are desperately needed immediately or you're unreachable (too much enemies or stuns nearby). then, you can buyback. generally, in the middle of combat it should be either the tank or the windranger that's reviving.
10. the wraith king. if he creates a bunch of death prophets, kill them immediately. if he creates a tombstone, send one guy to kill it immediately. if a circle surrounds a large area around him, get out of it unless you have magic immunity (hits for 1500 and stuns). don't group up, he'll throw a wraithfire blast on you. he'll resurrect three times total. he's actually not that hard, because if you have reached this far then chances are your team is good. |
